Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur Stats
- At least one opposition striker has had a shot on target in Spurs’ three opening games.
- Taiwo Awoniyi has had at least a shot on target in both of his last two league matches.
- The hosts have kept just two clean sheets across their previous nine league outings.
Betting Tip: Tottenham Hotspur Win & Under 3.5 Goals
Nottingham Forest have held their own so far since their return to the top flight, securing a win, a draw and a loss across their opening three matches. They mean business and that’s evident by the fact that only Chelsea have spent more during this transfer window.
But visitors Tottenham may not be too concerned after they earned their fourth clean sheet from their last six outings. They’re efficient and they will fancy their chances of keeping the home crowd quiet here.
Nottingham Forest have faced more shots from open play than any other Premier League outfit so far this campaign and they will be up against a side that, excluding Manchester City and Liverpool, has accrued the most Premier League points this calendar year. The ‘Lilywhites’ face another trip to the City Ground in the next round of the Carabao Cup and will be determined to set a precedent here.
This should be an exciting contest but I'm not convinced that it will be a high scoring affair. I do, however, think that Spurs will do enough to get the job done and I'll back them to collect three points but for the match to see fewer than four goals in total.
Betting Tip: Taiwo Awoniyi 1+ Shots on Target
I’m going to dip into the player prop markets here and back the Nottingham Forest number nine to register just a single shot on target at some point in this match. The striker arrived from Union Berlin over the summer and has already made his mark. He notched 15 goals from 29 starts last season in the Bundesliga and of those 29 matches, Taiwo Awoniyi registered at least one shot on target in 21 of them. Fast forward to this campaign, in a fresh league, and he has managed at least one shot on target in both of his league starts.
Despite their solid beginning to the new campaign, an opposition striker has managed a shot on target in all of Tottenham Hotspur’s three matches and Nottingham Forest will be looking to play on the front foot if they can.
We saw Wolves create plenty of chances against Spurs last time out. The absence of Cristian Romero is a huge plus for the hosts and I think Awoniyi will get the opportunity for at least one shot on target.
