Everton vs Liverpool Betting Tips
Betting Tip: Both teams to score no
Everton’s search for a first Premier League win of the season goes on after they drew away to Leeds United on Tuesday night. However, they’ll be disappointed that they weren’t able to take more from the match after Demarai Gray’s second half strike was ruled out for a very tight offside call. It marked yet another match in which the ‘Toffees’ failed to keep a clean sheet and they now welcome a Liverpool outfit that are on a high.
Liverpool had a dramatic victory at home to Newcastle on Wednesday night after scoring a 98th minute winner. But now their attention will turn to the Merseyside Derby. They will welcome back Darwin Nunez to the fold after he served his suspension but it will be interesting to see if Jurgen Klopp throws him in here.
Liverpool will dominate the ball at Goodison Park and when these two meet but the hostile crowd will get right behind their side. Both teams to score no has landed in four of the last six matches and I think this will be quite a tight match. For me the value is on at least one of these sides failing to get on the scoresheet.
Betting Tip: Liverpool win & under 4.5 goals
Liverpool are priced at just 4/9 to get the win here. They’re rightly favourites and I think Everton will struggle to create opportunities. I’m not sure if the hosts will see enough of the ball to create many meaningful chances and I think their game plan will be to frustrate Liverpool and try to cause problems on the break.
The hosts have more defensive clearances on average than any other Premier League side and they’re going to need to concentrate for the entire 90 minutes if they’re to stand a chance of avoiding defeat. I don’t see this being a particularly high scoring encounter, I do however think
that the visitors have far too much quality and ingenuity in an attacking capacity to not take get on the scoresheet and ultimately take three points.
Seven of the last eight meetings to take place at this venue have produced fewer than five goals and I think we’re getting a good price by adding fewer than 4.5 goals to a Liverpool win for this 4/5 pick.
