Napoli vs Liverpool Betting Tips
Betting Tip: Napoli to score 2+ Goals
I actually think Napoli are being underrated somewhat in this match and I think the Liverpool price is being based on how well they performed last campaign. They are yet to hit those heights so far this term as injuries have had an impact on their performances.
They drew 0-0 in the Merseyside derby at the weekend, which is remarkable in itself considering how many chances there were for both sides. Now they make the trip to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, a venue where the hosts have won five of their six home Champions League showdowns against English sides.
Jurgen Klopp’s side haven’t fared well on the road so far as they drew 2-2 at Fulham and lost 2-1 at Manchester United prior to the derby day draw. Their midfield is missing a number of players but the likes of Fabinho and Milner have shown signs of slowing down, whilst Harvey Elliott, whilst extremely talented and hardworking is still quite raw.
I think at home, Napoli have the edge here and with Liverpool looking a little vulnerable so far this season, I think the Napoli prices are a little inflated. The visitors have conceded the opening goal in four of their six matches so far and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the hosts go in front. I think this could be a high scoring match and I'll back Napoli to score at least twice.
Betting Tip: Napoli 4+ shots on target
A similar pattern of thinking for the previous bet is behind this selection. Napoli on home soil have been quite formidable in the elite competitions and they’ve started the season off well.
They’ve taken their games to their opponents in front of their home fans and have registered 12 shots on target across their opening two home matches. It’s a small sample size but it shows the attacking intent that the boss Luciano Spalletti wants to see.
The line of 3.5 would suggest that the market is expecting the visitors to dominate the game from the first whistle, but I don't think they will have it all their own way and Napoli are a side that are exceptional at creating chances for a shot on goal.
As previously mentioned, I think Napoli are being underrated here and I will have a play on the prop market and ‘Gli Azzurri’ to register at least four shots on goal.
