Shakhtar Donetsk vs Celtic

Shakhtar put on a serious show in Leipzig last week to kick off their UCL campaign with a 1-4 win and move them top of the group against all odds, and they won’t have home advantage here with their games being played in Warsaw. They’ve still retained plenty of talent in this side despite changes due to the ongoing circumstances in their home country, and that was on show last week as their win ultimately resulted in the dismissal of Leipzig’s coach.

Celtic met a Real Madrid side last week who were far from their best put still saw off the Scottish Champions 0-3 at Celtic Park, so it’s increasingly important that they get a result, albeit in a difficult game on the road. Both will have penned this as a winnable group game before a ball was kicked, and I think both are capable of goals.

Copenhagen vs Sevilla

If Copenhagen are to make it anywhere in this group, a group which contains Dortmund and Man City, they’re going to have to rely on their home form, and arguably the easiest game they will face here is against Lopetegui’s Sevilla. They have had an atrocious start to their season on all fronts, and Lopetegui bought himself a little more time at the weekend with a win at Espanyol, but even that game saw them throw away a 0-3 lead to almost drop points, eventually winning 2-3.

I have no doubt that Sevilla are the better side on paper in this, but having watched them defend over recent weeks against Barcelona and Man City, and ship another two goals at the weekend, I have no faith whatsoever that they’re capable of a clean sheet. It should be a bustling Parken Stadium here for Copenhagen’s first UCL home tie, and though results haven’t really gone their way lately either, it’s a rare event that they’ll fail to find the net on home soil.

Rangers vs Napoli

After a 4-0 loss in Amsterdam last time out, and a 4-0 loss against Celtic prior to that in the league, Rangers will have welcomed a bit of a break in the schedule over the past few days, and will probably welcome a return to Ibrox. There’s no doubt that they come into this as underdogs against one of the best sides in Italy, but I think they can find the net in this.

Ibrox was a fortress for them in Europe last season, and Napoli hardly have the best defensive record either. They were in the Europa League last year and conceded at the likes of Spartak Moscow, Legia Warsaw and Leicester, and in their previous UCL campaign their defensive record on the road left a lot to be desired. They’re no strangers to an intimidating atmosphere, but Rangers need to bounce back from some disappointing performances as of late, and though I’m not sure they’re capable of winning this, I think they’re more than capable of finding the net.
