The oddschecker team have picked out a 8/1 Thursday treble covering action in the UEFA Nations League.
Poland vs Netherlands – Over 2.5 Goals and BTTS
The penultimate round of games in the Nations League kicks off with Poland vs the Netherlands in Warsaw. Poland are currently sitting in third place in League A Group 4 with four points from their first four games. They beat Wales in their first game before suffering a heavy 6-1 defeat to Belgium.
In the first encounter with their opponents on Thursday, they scraped a 2-2 draw against the Netherlands, with Poland losing a two-goal lead which could’ve ended in defeat had Memphis Depay not missed a late penalty to win the game. They then went on to lose against Belgium again. Poland will look to prolific goalscorer Robert Lewandowski to help them against the Dutch on Thursday.
As for the Netherlands, they have won all their games so far in the Nations League aside from the 2-2 draw against Poland. They beat Belgium 4-1 in their own backyard and saw off Wales twice. Depay is the leading Dutch goalscorer in the competition, scoring three goals from three games, which really should’ve been four had he converted that late penalty in the previous draw against Poland.
In the four games the Netherlands have played in the Nations League, there have been over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring. The same is true for three of the four games Poland have played, including the last fixture the two sides have played, which ended 2-2. With this in mind, we are backing both teams to score and over 2.5 goals between the two sides.
France vs Austria – BTTS
Surprisingly, current Nations League and World Cup holders France have lost both of their Nations League games at home, falling to defeat against both Denmark and Croatia at the Stade de France. They are yet to win in League A Group 1 but did recover from going behind to pick up a point against Austria. Les Bleus sit bottom with just two points from four games, making it impossible for them to top the group.
Austria beat Croatia comfortably in their first match of the group but were defeated by Denmark twice. They currently sit in third place with four points from four and will be cautious to not lose against the French, which will see France leapfrog them in the group.
France and Austria both scored in the last fixture these two played out, and with France’s patchy record at home in the Nations League, Austria will fancy their chances. Whilst we are unsure who will come out as winners, we expect both teams to score at the Stade de France on Thursday.
Belgium vs Wales – Belgium to win and over 2.5 Goals
The other fixture in League A Group 4 on Thursday night sees Belgium take on Wales. Belgium sit in second place, three points behind the Netherlands, after beating Poland twice. They drew with Wales 1-1 at the Cardiff City Stadium in their last encounter, conceding a late equaliser from Brennan Johnson.
Belgium must equal or better the Netherlands result on Thursday to remain in the hunt for top spot in Group D, and will look to do so against a Wales side whose only point came against the Belgians.
Wales have lost their other three games in the group, scoring in all three, and will need to beat Belgium in order to get themselves off the bottom of the Group D table. They qualified for their first World Cup since 1958 earlier in the summer, and with the 2022 edition getting closer and closer, Wales will be looking to build some momentum to hit the ground running in Qatar.
Belgium’s side has enough to see off the Welsh, so we think they will win. Their goalscoring prowess was highlighted in that 6-1 battering of Poland on matchday one of the Nations League, and with Wales record of scoring in every game so far, we also think over 2.5 goals will be scored on Thursday night.
