Fulham vs Bournemouth

I don’t think there will have been many Fulham or Bournemouth fans who thought that their meeting between each other in mid-October would have been a battle between 8th and 9th in the league, but here we are.

The massive surprise is Bournemouth for me. In the back of my head it feels like they’ve done nothing this season and flown massively under the radar, but despite only scoring 8 goals and conceding 20, they find themselves with a chance to, wait for it, move into the European spots with a win here. They’ve gone unbeaten in five games now, something which completely passed me by, and picked up an impressive 2-1 win over struggling Leicester last weekend.

They are however yet to keep a clean sheet on the road this season, but have generally found the net themselves apart from against the big boys, losing 4-0 at the Etihad and 9-0 of course at Anfield. They’ve picked up a win over Forest and a draw against Newcastle on the road recently though and I’d fancy them to find the net in this.

Fulham always pose a threat with Mitrovic in the ranks and though they’ve only won twice in their last six Premier League games, they’ve found the net in all six of those games, also conceding in them all.

Burnley vs Swansea

Two pretty surprising sides for goals really this season as they’re two teams who in the past have been seen as relatively defensive outfits, but they’re both producing this season and I’m willing to stick them into this treble.

Burnley are on a cracking run really under Vincent Kompany’s guidance but despite losing just once this season and scoring 20 goals in 13 games, they find themselves down in 4th simply by virtue of the fact that they have drawn far too many along the way. Five of their last six games have seen both teams find the net, and four of those have ended in the same 1-1 scoreline, and they take on a Swansea side who are hardly on a poor run themselves.

The visitors are just one point and two places behind in sixth, and come into this on the back of four straight wins in all competitions including impressive wins at Watford and West Brom, but each of the last three of those wins have been without a clean sheet, and though they’ve scored in every game on their travels this season, their only clean sheet came in a 0-1 win at Blackpool.

Burton vs Morecambe

A battle of the bottom two at The Pirelli on Saturday afternoon and this has all the look of goals about is as both are capable of scoring but completely incapable of defending.

Burton have already seen a change of manager this season as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink walked away from a sinking ship, and while results have taken a turn for the better since his departure, their only clean sheet in any competition this season came in mid-September in a win over Exeter. They picked up an encouraging 1-1 draw against Peterborough last time out to halt a decent Posh run and have seen both teams find the net in four of their last five, but Morecambe will know this is a huge chance to get three points on the board against the side directly above them in the table.

Morecambe started their season by conceding loads and not scoring many, and while they’re still conceding loads, at least they’re finding the net now. It’s been three straight losses since a 1-2 win over Forest Green, but they have found the net in all of those including against a very difficult Ipswich side in their 1-2 loss last weekend.

It ended 3-2 when the two met at The Pirelli last season, both teams scoring inside the opening five minutes, and there’s plenty at stake for the pair in this one.
