Aston Villa vs Chelsea - Chelsea win and over 2.5 goals

Since Graham Potter took charge of Chelsea, they’ve won four of the five games they’ve played, with those four coming in a row in recent weeks. The Blues are doing their business under the radar and will look to continue their good form with a win at Villa Park.

As for Aston Villa, Steven Gerrard has been under huge pressure, with his low scoring side managing just one win in their last seven games. They are the joint second lowest goal scorers in the division, with only Wolves beating them with a meagre three goals.

Since Aston Villa returned to the Premier League, they have only avoided defeat against the Blues twice, both coming in the 2020-21 season. With Chelsea bang on form and Villa in a rut, we expect a win for the visitors.

Over 2.5 goals have been scored in five of the six games between the two sides since Villa’s promotion, so we think a Chelsea win and over 2.5 goals in the game is the angle here.

Leeds United vs Arsenal - Arsenal win

League leaders Arsenal have been beating everything that comes their way at the moment, winning 11 of their 12 games in all competitions, a truly remarkable start to the campaign.

As for Leeds United, they are winless in five games, a stark contrast to their opening three games, where they picked up two wins and a draw. Jesse Marsch’s side will be right up against it when they face the free scoring Gunners on Sunday.

Arsenal have won four of the last five meetings between the two sides, including two wins against the Yorkshire side last season, and with Mikel Arteta’s side showing no signs of faltering, we can’t see anything else but an Arsenal win at Elland Road this weekend, so that’s what we’re going for.

Liverpool vs Manchester City - Manchester City win

Arguably the biggest rivalry of last season, last season’s title contenders Liverpool face off against eventual champions, Manchester City. Last season saw two 2-2 draws in their league meetings, while Liverpool saw Pep Guardiola’s side off in the FA Cup Semi Final and Community Shield in their two most recent encounters.

Liverpool’s form has taken a nosedive in comparison to last season, as they currently sit 10th going into the game after suffering a 3-2 defeat to leaders Arsenal. They did batter Rangers 7-1 at Ibrox in midweek, which will boost their confidence ahead of the big game at Anfield on Sunday.

Manchester City had won six in a row in all competitions before a goalless draw away at Copenhagen in midweek. They are currently second in the Premier League and are the last unbeaten team remaining in the division. They have also been scoring at will, scoring 33 goals from their opening nine games, with 15 of those coming from the electric Erling Haaland, which Premier League defenders seem to have no answer to.

With City’s electric form coming up against an injury-hit Liverpool side who are struggling in the Premier League, we think City will clinch this game at Anfield and keep up the hunt on the league leaders.
