19:30 Wednesday
Brentford vs Chelsea – Chelsea
Brentford came away as surprising winners at the weekend vs Brighton, with an Ivan Toney brace cementing the three points for the West London club. Despite having only 27% possession throughout the game, Thomas Frank’s side looked threatening on the counter attack and with an excellent display from David Raya, they came away as worthy winners.
They welcome a completely different challenge in Chelsea on Wednesday evening. Graham Potter’s side are flying, with four wins in a row since the Englishman took charge.
They have a game in hand on those above of them and remain only four points off 2nd place City so will be looking for another win to close the gap at the top. We predict Chelsea will continue their run of form and come out as winners in this West London derby.
19:30 Wednesday
Liverpool vs West Ham – Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp will hope Sunday’s 1-0 win over City will be the catalyst his side need to turn their season around. They came out as victors from a heated affair at Anfield that saw the German manager banished from the side-line.
West Ham, on the other hand, will be disappointed by their performance at the weekend after only claiming a point at St. Mary’s. David Moyes’ side’s struggles have seemed to continue, and it doesn’t seem like the best time to be visiting Anfield.
Off the back of a huge win and in front of a packed-out Anfield once more, we think Liverpool win here.
19:30 Wednesday
Bournemouth vs Southampton – Bournemouth
Managerless Bournemouth continued their good run of form at the weekend and have now gone six unbeaten since Scott Parker’s sacking, mounting support for interim manager Gary O’Neil.
They sit 10th in the league, only three points off 5th place Manchester United and they will be extremely happy with their current form.
They welcome a Southampton side who are in completely opposite form. They sit 18th in the league, a point off safety and have now gone winless in five since their victory vs Chelsea back in August.
Ralph Hasenhuttl remains in danger of losing his job and is the bookies second favourite to do so, and a loss at Bournemouth could be the final nail in the coffin. One team comes into this game in good form, and one can’t buy a win. A home victory is the play for this one.
19:30 Wednesday
Newcastle vs Everton – Newcastle
Newcastle are another team in good form and remain unbeaten in five after drawing at Old Trafford at the weekend. They have looked impressive going forward of late, with a 4-1 win vs Fulham and 5-1 win vs Brentford in recent weeks and it is made even more impressive considering star striker Alexander Isak was out for those games with a hamstring injury. Eddie Howe has got his side playing extremely well and they are keeping well within touch at the top.
Everton have had an okay start to the season but remain around the relegation zone. They have one of the best defensive records in the league but have the second worse attacking record, a worry for Frank Lampard’s side.
They will be encouraged by the timely return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin before the World Cup but it will take time for him to get back up to speed. We think Newcastle will have too much for Everton on the day and will come out as victors for this one.
