Bournemouth vs Southampton Tips

Betting Tip: Both teams to score - No

The hosts will feel unlucky not to have claimed all three points away at Fulham over the weekend after twice taking the lead. But it did ensure that interim boss Gary O’Neil continued his unbeaten run in charge of the Cherries, winning two and drawing four of their last six outings.

They now return to the Vitality Stadium where they have lost just once all season. Both teams to score has landed in just one of their five league games to take place at this venue, which came against a struggling Leicester City, and they’ll be looking to limit a Southampton outfit in poor form to relatively few chances.

The visitors are struggling to create meaningful chances and when they do, they often fail to convert them. That’s been apparent over their three most recent away games having failed to get on the scoresheet in any of them.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhüttl is coming under increasing pressure and he would love nothing more than a victory down on the south coast. But maybe he would just be happy to see his side attack with intent and get on the scoresheet.

This venue has been quite stingy for the neutral with both teams only scoring on one occasion so far this term and I think there is value to be had on the 11/10 available for at least one of these sides failing to score.

Betting Tip: Bournemouth to commit over 10.5 fouls

I’m going back into the prop markets for this encounter and will be backing Bournemouth to commit 11 or more fouls at a generous price of evens.

The hosts rank fourth in terms of average fouls committed per match on home soil. Only Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United are committing more and I think they’ll be getting stuck into Southampton at any given opportunity.

There is an element of rivalry between these two and I'm expecting Southampton to have periods where they’re on top and trying to force the issue. But as a result of that, I also believe Bournemouth will look to disrupt the flow of the game and hit them on the break, frequently committing fouls in the process.

I’d have this particular selection priced up closer to 4/5 and so for me, at double your money, the Cherries to commit 11 or more fouls makes plenty of appeal.
