Newcastle United vs Chelsea Tips:
Betting Tip: Newcastle United to score 2 + Goals
Few would’ve expected the Magpies to be soaring as high as they are and who would’ve thought that a win here would guarantee that they occupy a spot in the top three by the time the World Cup comes around.
Eddie Howe rested an array of his stars for the midweek cup clash with Crystal Palace and that will stand them in good stead here as they can face Chelsea with some fresh legs. They’ve struggled against sides that want to sit deep but against teams that like to play themselves and get in behind, they have found some joy.
Their classic 3-3 draw against Manchester City earlier in the season could offer some insight into how this one plays out as both went on the attack and with Chelsea desperate for a win, we could see an open match and if it goes that way, I really like the hosts to score a couple of goals in front of a packed home crowd.
Eddie Howe’s side are unbeaten at home and have hit the back of the net in six of their seven home league outings. Chelsea are struggling at the moment and look leggy. I’ll take Newcastle to slot at least twice at a generous price of 5/4.
Betting Tip: Chelsea most cards
It’s no secret that not only have the visitors had a run of poor results, losing three of their last four, but the performances themselves have also been subpar. But when things are getting tough the first thing to put right is maximum effort and being aggressive.
They’ll need that here when they take on this reformed Newcastle united outfit. The one thing that has changed for the hosts is they go forward in numbers and make plenty of positive runs. They perform well against sides that want to come out and attack rather than having two lines of defence and we could see a number of fouls here.
It is the last game before players head off for the World Cup but that won’t mean the foot is taken off the pedal and a loss for the visitors here could see them sitting in tenth place when the season resumes.
Chelsea’s opponents away from home are averaging just a single card per game, the fewest in the league and with Chelsea needing to show some fight, i’ll have a point on the Blues seeing more cards than the hosts.
