Portsmouth vs Derby County Stats

  • Portsmouth have drawn their last four home games and have kept just one clean sheet across their eight home league outings
  • The hosts have hit the back of the net in seven of their eight league matches at Fratton Park
  • Both teams have scored in seven of Pompey’s eight matches on home soil

Portsmouth vs Derby County Tips:

Betting Tip: Both teams to score

The hosts are firmly in the playoff picture but they’ll rue the fact they have dropped points in four of their last five games. They have drawn all of their last three league outings and they finished with 1-1 scorelines.

Meanwhile, the visitors come into this one full of confidence after winning two successive matches which includes a 5-0 thumping of Torquay in the FA Cup. Both matches came after a strong performance against Liverpool in the League Cup and they will travel to the South Coast believing they can take all three points.

This is a huge clash in terms of the league standings as the visiting Rams sit just a place behind Portsmouth on goal difference, but Paul Warne’s side were dealt a blow as defender Haydon Roberts had to leave the field with a hamstring injury during the FA Cup replay with Torquay.

Derby County have successfully got on the scoresheet in four of their prior five road games and they’re playing Portsmouth at just the right time here.

It’s difficult to pick out a potential winner. Portsmouth have not lost a single match at home this campaign and look a great price to get back on track. However, whilst I expect them to get on the scoresheet, Pompey don’t look solid in the defensive department, as evident by the fact they have managed to keep just one clean sheet at Fratton Park in League One.

Both teams appear much more comfortable going forward and both defences will be under the spotlight. This one has the potential to change the look of the top six but in terms of a pick, I think the best way to go is for both outfits to get in on the scoring act.
