Morocco vs Portugal – Portugal & Under 2.5 Goals 

Morocco are the dark horses of this year’s tournament and are looking to go further than any African team before them. A resilient Portugal team stand between and the semi-finals. 

The Moroccans have got this far through sheer defensive resilience. They have conceded only once throughout the entire competition (an own goal) so Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal will find it a much different game compared to their last. 

The North African side sat back for a lot of the game vs Spain and hit them on the counter, eventually winning on penalties. We imagine they’ll set up in a similar way again, so expect more of the same. 

The Portuguese flew through the round of 16 in emphatic style with a 6-1 drubbing of Switzerland. Fernando Santos’ call to leave Ronaldo out of the starting 11 worked out well, with Goncalo Ramos scoring a hat-trick. Ramos is expected to start over Ronaldo once again.

We can see Morocco defending deep again and starving the Portuguese players of many chances. Although we can’t see many goals in this one we do still think Portugal have more quality and will emerge victorious. A Portugal win and under 2.5 goals is the play for this one.

England vs France – BTTS 

Probably the most competitive draw of the quarter-finals goes to England vs France. The long time rivals come into this fixture with even chances, with many bookmakers finding it too hard to call. Both teams have looked formidable going forward, with Kylian Mbappe on track to win the Golden Boot. 

England will be happy with their performances so far but will look towards this game as their first real test at this World Cup, hoping to go one step further than in 2018. Gareth Southgate’s men are playing with real confidence, while teenage sensation Jude Bellingham is certainly making a name for himself on the world’s biggest stage. 

Unfortunately, they run into a France side in equally good form. The French may have had several injury worries coming into the World Cup but they have not disappointed so far. 

Their threat comes from the pace on the wings with Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele both running riot vs Poland in the last 16. If England have any hope they will need to keep them quiet. With such quality in both teams it is too close to call, so both teams to score is the pick here.
