Nigel Tinkler had SELFISH BRIAN entered to run at Newcastle at the weekend before it was abandoned. He is a horse I’ve had on my radar for a while and when he won at Leicester back in the summer I really thought he was going to kick on but that just hasn’t been the case. He has still run some good races in defeat but not quite reached the heights I thought he was going to. That said he has run well the last twice and this drop back down in trip will be ideal so he won’t need to find much more improvement to get back to winning ways. He is down to a mark of 55 now and really should be making an impact again.

Uther Pendragon impressed winning at Lingfield on Monday but he has never backed up a win which would have to be a concern. Bounce Back is obviously unexposed and better can be expected now handicapping but she failed to get competitive at Lingfield and is hard to assess.
