Football Accumulator Tips: Thursday’s 6/1 Treble backs Man City to beat Liverpool

Man City vs Liverpool – Man City 

Pep Guardiola’s men host Liverpool in the tie of the round for the first game of Thursday’s treble. The Citizens are competing for the title once again while Jurgen Klopp’s side will be lucky to qualify for the Champions League after a slow start to the season. 

Both teams have had several first team players away at the World Cup in recent weeks so we could see either much changed sides or full strength sides to get back match sharpness. Regardless, City come into this in better form and will be the more confident. 

City will be looking to stop Liverpool from progressing to claim back to back Carabao Cup titles and we think they’ll do just that. We can see this one being a scrapy affair, with players trying to regain match sharpness but we think the reigning Premier League champs will just about edge this one. 

CD Arenteiro vs Atletico Madrid – Atletico Madrid 

The second leg of treble sees La Liga side Atletico Madrid visit CD Arenteiro in a game that we think won’t surprise us too much. Despite competing at the top of the league in the second phase of group one, Arenteiro are still playing in a much lower division than Atletico and we can’t see them causing too many problems. 

Diego Simeone’s side, although they hadn’t been in great form before the break, have great quality within their ranks and will be looking to compete for not just Europe but the league in the second half of the season. As well as this, the Copa Del Rey is a trophy they usually like to progress far in so we can see them playing a strong side and putting no doubt in the game. An Atletico win. 

Oviedo vs Granada - Oviedo

The final leg of our Thursday treble is also the one that we think will be the closest. It sees Oviedo host fellow Segunda Division side Granada. 

Granada are 6th in the table and have one eye on the top, but after two losses in their last five they remain only nine points off relegation so need to keep their concentration for the second half of the season. 

Oviedo sit 14th in the league, five points off both the relegation and Granada in 6th. Their season really could swing either way and so they will be looking for a good re-start to give themselves a good platform to build upon. 

As for this game, we can see Oviedo edging it at home. They have won three of their last five in the league with only one loss, so they really started to find their feet before the break. With a few weeks to really drill their players, we think they’ll do the same again. Add the home crowd advantage and we think Oviedo is the call for this one.
