Football Accumulator Tips: Thurday’s 14/1 FavFour backs Championship promotion hopefuls

QPR vs Luton – QPR 

Luton come into this game of a valuable victory vs Norwich on Boxing Day which saw Dean Smith get the sack. After going down to 10 men, Cauley Woodrow’s 90th minute winner claimed the three points for the Hatters and sent them only two points off the play-offs. 

However, they visit a QPR side who also fighting for promotion this year and will be expecting a new manager bounce anytime soon after the appointment of former Luton boss Neil Critchley. 

They came away from Cardiff with a goalless draw on Boxing Day so will be looking for a good performance in front of a home crowd. We think they’ll get just that and QPR will come away with all three points. 

Millwall vs Bristol City – Millwall 

Millwall are another team fighting for promotion this year and sit only four points off Blackburn in 3rd place. They will come into this tie the more confident, after a commanding 2-0 win away at Watford and having lost only once in their last five. They have been in this position in previous years but have always petered off towards the end of the season. Can they finally compete this year?

Bristol City are having an slightly different season to that. They currently sit 18th in the table, only five points off the bottom and are fighting for survival this year. They have won only once in their last five and were beaten easily by West Brom on Boxing Day, so won’t come into this game with confidence. We think in front of a home crowd, Millwall should win this one. 

West Brom vs Preston – West Brom 

Since the dismissal of Steve Bruce, the Baggies have completely changed their season around, winning four out of their lasty five to go 14th in the table and only three points off the play-offs. Considering only a few weeks ago they were seen as one of the most likely to be relegated, Carlos Corberan has done an excellent job since being appointed. 

They face a resilient Preston team in their next fixture and we think they will find it a tougher game than their last against Bristol City. The Lilywhites have been one of the best teams defensively in the Championship this year and themselves remain only a point off the promotion places. We can see this one being a close affair with only a couple goals in it, but West Brom to come away with all three points. 

Blackpool vs Sheffield United – Sheffield United 

The final leg of our FavFour is also the easiest to call. A high flying Sheffield United travel to Blackpool. The Blades have won four on the bounce and will be looking to make it five on their visit to the east coast to put even more pressure on Burnley at the top. Paul Heckingbottom’s side will have one eye on the Premier League already and be looking to stroll past a side who have struggled all season. 

Blackpool look destined for League One next season and couldn’t come into this game in worse form, having not won in their last seven. They sit 22nd in the table and look to least likely to claw their way out of it of those around them. A Sheffield United win for the last leg of our FavFour accumulator.
