Football Accumulator Tips: Friday’s 5/1 Treble backs Liverpool win

West Ham vs Brentford – West Ham 

After a slow first half to the season, the struggles for David Moyes’ Hammers continued with a defeat to Arsenal. The loss at the Emirates on Boxing Day only added to their woes and a loss to Brentford would make it five losses on the bounce. If this happens, could Moyes’ neck be on the line?

Fellow Londoners Brentford enjoyed a much more positive restart, as Thomas Frank’s stock continues to rise. The Bees went two up vs Tottenham on Boxing Day but only managed to claim a point.

This result made them four unbeaten in the league and saw them solidify their spot in the top half. A win vs West Ham would make it five unbeaten in the league and Brentford fans could feel they are serious contenders for Europe this year. 

However, we don’t see this happening. West Ham will be playing at home in front of a home crowd who will be getting well behind them. Desperately in need of a good performance and a result, we think Rice and co will deliver. A narrow West Ham win for this one. 

Stoke City vs Burnley – Burnley 

Burnley are high flying at the top of the Championship and we think they will continue their hot form in the second leg of Friday’s treble. Vincent Kompany’s side sit top of the table, three points ahead of Sheffield United and a win would make it five wins in a row and send them six points clear at the top. The former City captain will feel his side are in a good position for the remainder of the season and will think they’re nailed on for promotion. 

Despite being at home, we don’t see Stoke putting up too much of a fight vs the league leaders. The Potters sit 17th in the table and have one of the worst defensive records in the league. The trajectory of their season can be determined over the next few games as they sit only five points off both the play-offs and the relegation zone. Unfortunately for them we can only see a Burnley win here. 

Liverpool vs Leicester City – Liverpool

After a slow start to the season, Liverpool seem to have got their season back on track and after three wins on the bounce, sit only five points of the Champions League spots. They have added Cody Gakpo to their ranks and are rumoured to be dipping their toe back into the market for more depth. Jurgen Klopp looks set to get financial backing to challenge in this second half of the season. 

Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester stand in their way next. The Foxes had a terrible start to the season which had many fans thinking they were nailed on for relegation but four wins from five before the break saw them claw their way up the table.

Unfortunately, the January window is traditionally a difficult period for fans of the Foxes, as bigger clubs circle around the likes of James Maddison and Youri Tielemans. Liverpool are usually so strong at Anfield so we can’t see anything other than a home win.
