Southampton vs Nottingham Forest  - Southampton to Win

The first leg of our Wednesday treble involves a relegation scrap between Southampton and Forest. Both sides are currently in the relegation zone but Forest are in a slightly better position, sitting level on points with West Ham in 17th. 

Neither team comes in to this in good form, with the Saints losing five on the bounce and Forest winning only once in their last five. You could say that this one is a six pointer for both sides and could determine the trajectory of their season. 

Both teams seem fairly matched so this one could be solved by the flip of a coin. However, Southampton have recently appointed Nathan Jones as their new manager and are yet to have their new manager bounce. With this their first game of the new year we think this could be it. In front of a home crowd and their first game of the year, we think Southampton will get those valuable points in this one.

Leeds vs West Ham – Leeds to Win

The Hammers are really struggling this season and pressure is starting to build on David Moyes. They sit 17th in the table, only above the relegation zone on goal difference and have lost five on the bounce. 

Off the back of this glum form, they visit a Leeds United side who themselves are struggling at the bottom but seem harder to beat. They sit 14th in the table but are only two points off safety with a game in hand on those around them and look like they’ll do just about enough to survive this year. 

They had a tough start back after the break, with City and Newcastle waiting for them and they would have been pretty happy to have picked up a point from those fixtures before-hand. 

After a tough few weeks, we think West Ham are on a bad path and they will fall short against Leeds once again in this one.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham – Tottenham to Win

The final leg of our treble involves a London derby. Spurs visit Selhurst Park on Wednesday night to try and reclaim their form. After a solid start to the season, they have taken their foot of the pedal and have become easier to play against. 

They were easily beaten by Aston Villa in North London on Sunday and had to come from behind to claim a point at Brentford on Boxing day. Nevertheless, they have a quality squad and will always be difficult to play against. 

Palace have been playing under the radar for most of the season but have been trotting along nicely. They sit 11th in the table only six points off Liverpool in 6th and will be looking at the second half of the season as a chance to put pressure on those above. 

Like Spurs they have had a tough restart to the season and were easily beaten 3-0 by London rivals Fulham after an early red card, then went on to beat Bournemouth a week later. 

We do think Palace will give Spurs a tough game but can see Harry Kane and co really showing their quality and narrowly coming out on top.
