Chelsea vs Manchester City Bet Builder Tips

Manchester City to win

The first of two back-to-back matches between Chelsea and Manchester City take place on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge with the two set to meet again on Sunday in the FA Cup.

Both teams are coming off the back of disappointing 1-1 draws against Nottingham Forest and Everton respectively but it is Pep Guardiola’s men who will be feeling more confident about this one.

City have beaten Chelsea in their last three meeting in all competitions, including a 2-0 League Cup victory already this season.

Chelsea’s lack of goals is a well-documented issue since Potter’s arrival with the Blues. Having only managed three Premier League goals in their last five games, they now face the third-best defence in the league in the form of Manchester City.

Erling Haaland Anytime Goalscorer

Haaland was brought in to do one job and that was to score goals. The Norwegian has certainly not disappointed with 21 league goals in 15 games; in fact, he has scored more league goals than Chelsea so far this season.

The 22-year-old has scored in every game since the restart of domestic football, which is an ominous sign for Chelsea.

Potter’s Chelsea have only managed to keep one clean sheet in their last seven league games and Haaland will certainly fancy his chances of adding to his goalscoring record.

Cesar Azpilicueta to be shown a card

With Reece James set to be on the medical table for another month, Potter will probably look to club captain Cesar Azpilicueta to fill in on the right side of the defence. The Spaniard has been an important player for Chelsea over the years but will have a tough assignment on Thursday night.

WhoScored.com has suggested that Jack Grealish will continue to start on the left for Manchester City and the Englishman is known for drawing fouls throughout the course of the game.

Potter will want his men to press City to try and force turnovers higher up the pitch but this could also leave them vulnerable to picking up cards if City can beat the press.
