Football Accumulator Tips: Wednesday's 5/1 Treble backs City Carabao Cup win

Nottingham Forest vs Wolves - Wolves

Both these teams have had a tough first half of the season, but their luck seems to be turning. With only one loss in their last five, Forest have climbed out of the bottom three and look on track to maintain their place in the league. 

Wolves are still in the bottom three and remain only a point off safety but have looked a much better side since the appointment of Julen Lopetegui. A lot of teams get new manager bounces and it’s only a matter of time till the results go their way. 

The last time these two sides met, Wolves came away as 1-0 winners, and we expect the same to happen in the Carabao Cup. We think they’ll finally get their new manager bounce and will progress into the semi-final. 

Southampton vs Man City – Man City

We think this one is a pretty straight forward selection. Man City are the favourites to win the Carabao Cup and have to beat the Saints to progress to the semi-finals.

Pep Guardiola’s men are still on for the treble this year and after a dominant 4-0 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup only last week, they look like the side to beat. 

Southampton, on the other hand, are having an extremely poor season and are rock bottom of the Premier League after six consecutive defeats. However, their cup form has differed. After a 2-1 win away at Palace on Saturday, they remain in both cups and will take hope and optimism into the second half of the season.

Nonetheless, we do think this is the end of their run in the Carabao Cup and City will be far too strong for them on the day. City won 4-0 the last time they met and we can see a similar result happening on their visit to St Mary’s. 

AC Milan vs Torino – AC Milan

The last leg of our treble has AC Milan hosting Torino in the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia. AC Milan are the clear favourites coming into this game, not just because of their league position, but because they are in impeccable form at the moment in Serie A. They have gone unbeaten in their last five, with three wins and have been playing with confidence.

In fact, the last time they lost in the league was against Torino at the end of October, but we can’t see the same happening here. AC Milan will be playing in front of a packed out San Siro and will be looking to book their place into the quarter-finals to try and better their semi-final defeat to Inter last season.  An AC Milan win is the pick for this one.
