The oddschecker team have picked out a 6/1 Thursday treble covering action from the Premier League, Coppa Italia and Copa Del Rey.
17:00 Thursday
Lazio vs Bologna – Lazio
An all Serie A affair takes place in the first leg of our Thursday treble as Lazio host Bologna for a chance to book their place in the quarter-final of the Coppa Italia.
Lazio come into this game as the slight favourite and we’ll back them to progress through to play either Juventus or Monza in the next round. They currently sit 5th in the league and are well within the mix this year for Champions League qualification. Maurizio Sarri has got his side playing well this season at both ends of the pitch and they boast the second best goal difference in the league.
Bologna face a tough task on their visit to the Italian capital, but we do think they’ll give Lazio a tough time. Marko Arnautovic is having another excellent season with eight goals in 14 games, and we can see him creating problems for the Lazio back line. However, they have little else within their squad and we think Lazio’s quality should shine through as they qualify for the next round.
20:00 Thursday
Man City vs Tottenham – Man City
Both Man City and Tottenham come into this game off the back of humiliating derby defeats and will be looking for a response to put things right. With Newcastle and Man United snapping at their heels, Pep Guardiola will see this game as a must win to keep their name in the title fight, and won’t settle for anything less than the three points.
Coming off the back of a pretty demoralizing defeat at home to Arsenal, we can see Spurs crumbling once again. The Spurs fans would also like a response from their side, but with City awaiting them, we think they’ll have to wait a few more days for it.
Neither team are in particularly good form, with both teams winning two and losing two in their last five games. We see City as the most likely to win; they have a much better side and they have the league leaders Arsenal to chase. Infront of a home crowd, we back them to get back on to winning ways.
20:00 Thursday
Villarreal vs Real Madrid – Real Madrid
The final game of our Thursday treble is a Copa Del Rey tie between Villarreal and Real Madrid. Both teams will come into this game thinking they can win and will see the Copa Del Rey as a chance to win some silverware.
Villarreal come into the game in slightly better form, going unbeaten in their last five and will take confidence from the fact they beat Real Madrid at the Estadio de la Cerámica only last week.
Despite this, we still think Real Madrid are the play for this one. The reigning league champions are competing for the title once again and although they are not in the best of form, they have some real quality within their ranks that can win any match. We think Carlo Ancelotti will see this a real chance for silverware, so his Real Madrid team should turn up and we think they will progress to the quarter-final.
