Brentford vs Southampton – Brentford

Carabao Cup semi-finalists Southampton travel to the Brentford Community Stadium in the first leg of our FavFour.

Brentford are pretty solid at home this season, losing just one game, against leaders Arsenal back in September. They have won three of the last four in the League, with seven points from nine at home since returning from the World Cup break.

As for Southampton, they’ve played three games since Brentford’s last fixture, which could mean they come up against a fresh Bees side rather exhausted and demoralised by their Carabao Cup semi-final defeat to Newcastle. Their league win away at Everton ended a six-game losing run, but are still rock-bottom in 20th.

We think, against a dire Southampton side, Brentford continue their good form and pick up the win.

Reading vs Watford – Watford

Reading host Watford with both sides looking to bounce back after defeats last weekend.

Reading lost their last Championship game to Stoke 4-0, they then went to Old Trafford last weekend in the FA Cup, which also ended in defeat. They return to league action sitting in 16th, but with every chance of moving up.

As for Watford, they lost to Middlesbrough last weekend and will want to bounce back against a side further down the table. They have been rather inconsistent of late, and did lose to Reading in the FA Cup in early January. They will be up for revenge as a result, and did beat them in the reverse league fixture.

Watford to move closer away from the chasing pack for a spot in the playoffs is our prediction for this one.

Swansea vs Birmingham – Swansea

Birmingham travel to Swansea with the visitors currently on a five game losing run. The Swans drew 2-2 away to their visitors in the reverse fixture, and we could see them take the win here.

Birmingham have been simply woeful and a win away at the Swansea.com Stadium is unlikely. Their five game losing run in the league highlights how poorly they’ve been, and we think this will continue away in South Wales.

Swansea to win here is our prediction.

Luton vs Stoke – Luton

Our final leg of the FavFour takes us to Luton, who play Stoke.

Luton are 12 points ahead of their visitors, who lost Harry Souttar on Transfer Deadline Day to Leicester. The hosts have won their last two and are in 4th place in the league, with a game in hand on the teams directly above and below them. A win here could take them to 3rd.

As for Stoke, the Potters ended a three game losing streak to Reading in a 4-0 win, which was followed by a win against Stevenage in the FA Cup, earning them a home tie to Brighton. We think this step up in opposition might see their average away record continue.

We think Luton win this one to complete the FavFour.
