Football Accumulator Tips: Arsenal vs Man City in Wednesday’s 7/1 Treble

After dropping points in their last two matches, Arsenal will feel this is an absolute must win match and many will view it as a title decider. Should City win, they will go top on goal difference, however, Arsenal will take solace from the fact that they have a game in hand on their rivals. 

By their lofty standards, City have been below par for the majority of the season with rumors of a disrupted changing room circling around the media. Pep has played a vastly different team for much of the campaign, but in recent weeks has reverted to his old reliable 11, just in time for Arsenal’s drop in form. With so much on the line in this one and with both teams playing at their highest levels, we can see this go being decided on a knife edge. For this reason, we’ll go with both teams to score here. 

Dortmund vs Chelsea – Dortmund 

Our second match of Wednesday’s treble sees Chelsea travel to Dortmund. Chelsea come into this fixture in poor form and aren’t playing with much confidence. They sit 10th in the table and have won only twice in their last 10 fixtures. 

Compare this to their German opponents and it is clear who comes into this with the most confidence. Dortmund have won seven games in a row in all competitions and look set to challenge for the title in the second half of the season. Add the fact that they will be playing in front of a packed out Westfalenstadion, Dortmund look like the most likely to go into the second leg ahead. A Dortmund win for this one. 

Club Brugge vs Benfica – Benfica 

The final game in our Wednesday treble has Benfica travel to Belgium to face Club Brugge. The Belgian side have had a difficult season domestically that has seen them drift away from the title race and has put their European qualification in doubt. Although they have gone unbeaten in six in the league, they have really struggled to gain traction and have only come away with eight points from a possible 30. 

They were surprised many after qualifying for the round of 16 this year, beating out both Atletico Madrid and Bayern Leverkusen for second place in group B behind Porto and now come up against Benfica in the knockouts. 

Along with Club Brugge, Benfica were probably one of this season’s surprises. They topped a group consisting of PSG and Juventus emphatically, going unbeaten and have positioned themselves well to go deep into the competition this year. 

They are currently topping the Liga Portugal with only one loss to their name all season and are playing with a real confidence. They were beaten on penalties by Braga in the cup this past week so they will be looking for a good response in Europe. With one side in excellent form and one struggling, we can only see one result. A Benfica win here.
