Ajax vs Union Berlin – Union Berlin win

Ajax and Union Berlin resume their continental efforts on Thursday evening when they face each other in their Europa League last 32-tie.

Both clubs are in good form with Ajax recording four successive wins and Union Berlin currently on a five-game winning streak.

Ajax initially struggled with Erik ten Hag’s move to Manchester United with the hierarchy deciding Alfred Schreuder’s time at the club was up after four successive draws.

The introduction of Johnny Heitinga has brought stability to the club and now they currently sit third in the Eredivisie and are three points of leaders Feyenoord.

Union Berlin are the surprise package in the Bundesliga with the club battling in the league with German giants Bayer Munich. Union Berlin currently sit just one point behind Munich and some supporters at the club may see this as a distraction but Urs Fischer will have ambitions to go as far as possible in this competition.

In Ajax’s four successive wins they haven’t played anyone higher than fifth-place FC Twente whilst Union Berlin were able to record an impressive 2-1 victory on the road against in form RB Leipzig.

It’ll be a tight game but we fancy Union Berlin to prove a much tougher test than what Ajax have faced in recent weeks.

FC Salzburg vs Roma – Over 1.5 goals

Jose Mourinho’s men travel to Austria to face FC Salzburg. FC Salzburg are currently top of the Austrian Bundesliga and have seen over 1.5 goals in their last five games.

Despite only finishing third in their Champions League group they put in some impressive displays with draws against AC Milan and Chelsea highlights.

Roma are currently occupying a top-four position in Serie A but in recent weeks have seen some varied results with a draw against Lecce on the weekend and a 2-1 loss to Cremonese in the Coppa Italia. Similar to FC Salzburg Roma have seen over 1.5 goals in their last five, so we fancy over 1.5 goals in this one.

Juventus vs Nantes – Juventus to win to nil

With a place in the last 16 at stake, the crisis-hit Italian giants will want to take a lead to France, but their visitors are enjoying a purple patch at the moment, having lost just one of their last seven Ligue 1 games.

Juventus give very little away at the back having only conceded 17 goals in Serie A, while Nantes are hardly prolific having only scored 24 goals in 23 games in Ligue 1 despite their much-improved form.

A low-scoring encounter should ensue, and we fancy the Italian side’s quality on both ends of the pitch to come through, so we fancy Juventus to win to nil in this one.
