20:00 Monday

The race for the playoffs in the Championship is heating up and with both of these two sides looking to break into the top six, we could be in for a closely fought matchup. Will the hostess end a run of three straight draws or will the visitors overtake their opponents by claiming an all important win?

Watford vs West Brom Stats

  • The hosts have drawn their last three league outings and another tight game is expected.
  • Darnell Furlong commits more fouls per game on average than any other West Brom player and should be up against Ismaila Sarr.
  • Three of Watford’s last four opponents have seen their right-sided defender get booked.

Watford vs West Brom Prediction

Betting Tip: Draw

Vicarage Road plays host to a huge clash in the race for the playoffs in the Championship as Watford clash with West Brom.

A tight match is expected and both outfits would love nothing more than to claim a win, but the primary objective must be to not lose this game. The hosts sit two points adrift of the top six, whereas the visitors can leapfrog Watford if they were able to clinch a victory.

Chances could come at a premium though and the Hornets are not shy of sharing a point apiece given that is exactly what has happened in four of their last five league outings. They were just moments away from beating Burnley but conceded a 95th minute equaliser and it means they have failed to win any of their last five.

In similar fashion, West Brom come here after looking as though they would claim all three points against Blackburn, only to concede in the 89th minute and see just a share of the spoils. Carlos Corberan will want his side to make their mark here but he’ll view any result other than defeat as a positive.

It’s hard to call which way this one will go, however, the market heavily favours the unders in terms of the goal market and for me, the value is on this one ending all square at a generous 12/5.

Draw - 1pt @ 12/5

Betting Tip: Darnell Furlong to be carded

I’ll dip into the card markets here as I think the West Brom right back looks a great price to go into referee Tim Robinson’s book.

If as expected Darnell Furlong does occupy the right-back position, he should be up against a pacey and tricky Ismaila Sarr who will cause him a headache. Three of the last four right backs the Senegalese wide man has faced have ended up in the book and on home soil, he’s getting fouled twice per game on average.

We could see him fouled more often here given what’s riding on this match. Particularly when you consider that Furlong is making more fouls per game than any other Baggies player. The hosts may look to target him and the 3/1 available on him getting booked makes real appeal.

Referee Tim Robinson is awarding an average of nearly four yellow cards per Championship clash and is brandishing exactly two on average per match to away sides.

I’ll happily have a point on the former QPR man receiving a yellow in this encounter.
