Man United vs Southampton – Man United & Over 2.5 Goals

Manchester United host Southampton at Old Trafford, looking for a suitable league response to their humbling at Anfield.

They bounced back against Real Betis in the Europa League to all but secure their quarter-final qualification in the hunt for silverware. The game against Liverpool shocked everyone, as they had been playing well prior to that game.

Southampton come into this one a point away from safety, level on points with bottom of the table Bournemouth. A shock win, which would be Ruben Selles’ third in the league, could boost them up to 15th, but the picture at the bottom still looks bleak.

If the game at Anfield was a mere blip, we should see a resilient United team sweep aside a low on confidence Saints and win here at home, and we think they’ll do so with at least three goals in the game.

West Ham vs Aston Villa – Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals

The second leg of our Sunday treble sees Aston Villa travel to West Ham. West Ham beat Nottingham Forest 4-0 before losing to Brighton by the same scoreline in the Seagulls’ favour. They bounced back to beat AEK Larnaca, but are unbeaten on home soil in their last three in the Premier League.

Aston Villa have kept back to back clean sheets, and have only failed to win one of their last five away games, which was against Manchester City. They are 11 points better off than their opponents on Sunday, and a win could take them into the top half, as they are currently level with Chelsea on 34 points.

We are unsure which way this is going to go, but with Villa’s good away record and West Ham’s good record at the London Stadium, we think there could be goals on the cards, so we think both teams will score and there will be over 2.5 goals in the game.

Newcastle vs Wolves – Newcastle

Once flying high in the table, Newcastle have been brought back to reality after three straight defeats, including the defeat at Wembley to Manchester United. They are winless in their last five in the Premier League, with their last win coming against Fulham back in mid-January.

As for Wolves, they beat Tottenham last time out, but that was just their first win in four games. They have won just a single away league game this year, albeit coming back from a goal down with 10 men against Southampton. The Geordies haven’t been too impressive, so it is very much up for grabs.

However, we think they’ll bounce back and look to put the recent results behind them to give them more of a chance of a European finish. Newcastle to win at home is our thinking.
