Sweden vs Belgium – Over 2.5 Goals

Sweden host Belgium at the Friends Arena with both teams looking to kick off their Euro 2024 campaigns with a victory.

Belgium have actually won their last three encounters against the Swede’s, with their most recent encounter coming in the group stage of Euro 2016. Sweden failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, while Belgium flopped at that tournament, only winning one game against Canada.

They recently replaced Roberto Martinez with Domenico Tedesco following that poor showing in Qatar and he will want to get his regime off to a winning start.

There is every chance Belgium take all three points to kick off their qualification campaign with a win, but with their poor showing in Qatar still fresh in the memory, we think over 2.5 goals is a safer prediction. Both teams have attacking quality in abundance, so we think it could be an exciting match in store in Sweden.

France vs Netherlands – Over 2.5 Goals

World Cup runner-ups France welcome the Netherlands to the Stade de France in Paris for their first Euro 2024 qualifier in Paris.

France were very unfortunate not to win the World Cup Final, coming back from two goals down in the short space of a minute to force extra-time, before going on to lose on penalties. They will be without Hugo Lloris, Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane as they have all hung their boots up on the international stage.

As for the Netherlands, Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands side were beaten by eventual winners Argentina at the quarter-final stage, and new manager Ronald Koeman begins his second stint as the Netherlands boss. His disastrous stint as Barcelona manager which ended in October 2021 was his last job, and he will want to put that behind him and get the Netherlands to Germany in 2024.

These teams have attacking prowess about them, with Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud for the French, whereas the likes of Memphis Depay and Cody Gakpo will play a role in the Netherlands front three. With this in mind, we think over 2.5 goals will be scored in this one, so that’s our selection for this bumper game on Friday night.

Czech Republic vs Poland – Both Teams to Score

The final game from Friday’s treble sees Poland travel to the Czech Republic for the first qualification match in their Euro 2024 campaign.

The last time these sides met, it was today’s hosts that got the win in Euro 2012, with Poland losing in their host tournament, leaving them last place in Group A. Their quarter-final run for the Czechs at the last Euros after a famous win over the Netherlands in the last 16 was the last tournament they qualified for, after failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

As for Poland, they scraped through to the knockout stage of the World Cup, before going out to France, which was expected, but the former manager Czeslaw Michniewicz paid the price for the lack of entertainment throughout their tournament. Fernando Santos replaces him, having left Portugal after their quarter-final elimination to Morocco.

We think both teams will score in this one, which will see Robert Lewandowski and Patrik Schick face off, which gives both sides a good chance of getting on the scoresheet.
