Bournemouth vs West Ham – Bournemouth win

The first game from our Sunday treble sees a relegation six pointer between Bournemouth and West Ham, with the winner being able to pull away from the drop zone.

The hosts could move nine points clear of 18th placed Nottingham Forest and are one of the most in-form teams in the league after four wins from their last six. They made it back to back wins for the first time this season after their heroic victory away at Tottenham. They return to the Vitality Stadium following their successes on the road in their last two, looking to grab another three points and increase their chances of survival in their first season back in the Premier League.

West Ham have successes of their own to shout about, after securing their second European semi-final in succession. However, the league is arguably more crucial than the Europa Conference League, and whilst a win away at Fulham and a draw against the league leaders Arsenal has given them optimism going into the final stages of the campaign, everything is still to play for.

The Hammers haven’t won here since 2016 and they might continue against a confident Cherries side. Whilst a draw wouldn’t be much harm to either’s chances, given the five teams below them have all lost their last two league games, a win could be crucial with some tough fixtures on the horizon. 

The European dream does have its domestic hangover effects, as West Ham have failed to win five of the last six fixtures played after their Europa Conference League games. This all leads to a Bournemouth win in our minds.

Newcastle vs Tottenham – Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score

We go from one end of England to the other in our second game as Tottenham travel to Newcastle in a showdown to claim the final Champions League spot for next season.

The hosts have won five of the last six, but were outclassed against Aston Villa, losing 3-0 in their last game. They still sit third in the form tables and will want to take advantage of Tottenham’s poor away form. Even if Newcastle weren’t to win, it would not be the end of the world for them, having a game in hand on Spurs and being three points above them with a better goal difference.

As for Spurs, this is a must win in their eyes, and anything less than that could see them slip not just away from the Champions League spots, but European football all together. Aston Villa have made serious ground, winning seven of the last eight games, as well as Brighton who have two games in hand but are only four points behind. Winless on the road in all competitions since January highlights their demise.

This will be a close one in terms of the result, but we’ve gone for the over 2.5 goals mark and feel that both teams will get on the scoresheet. Tottenham have scored the 5th most goals away from home with 24 goals, and have a good record at St James Park; they have won on four of their last visits, each containing over 2.5 goals with both teams scoring. The reverse fixture also contained that in a 2-1 win for Newcastle, highlighting the abundance of goals in this fixture.

Brighton vs Manchester United – Over 2.5 Goals

Onto the big one of the day, with the FA Cup semi-final between Brighton and Manchester United, with the winner going on to contest the FA Cup trophy.

Brighton lost to Manchester United in their first ever FA Cup final back in 1983, and last reached the Semi-finals in 2019, losing 1-0 to Manchester City. However, there is real optimism around the Seagulls this season and they feel that a second all-time final appearance is more than possible. They have more points than United in their last six Premier League games, and beat them on the opening day of this season back in August.

United were originally going into this game with a chance of securing three trophies this season, having already won the League Cup. However, their damaging 3-0 defeat to Sevilla quashed all chances of that, and their FA Cup chances are on the line. They would still have a potential Manchester Derby in the final should they progress, unless Sheffield United pull off an unpredictable result. Three wins in the Premier League accompanied by three clean sheets has strengthened their top four chances, but in this competition, anything can happen.

In their last six meetings, there have been 20 goals, just over an average of three per game, and considering the fact that United conceded three in their match vs Sevilla, we think that over 2.5 goals is a solid bet to finish off the Super Sunday treble.
