Football Accumulator Tips: Saturday’s 8/1 FavFour backs Brighton win

Brighton vs Wolves – Brighton 

The Seagulls have had quite the season this year and with Graham Potter leaving to join Chelsea in September, it is made even more impressive that they have managed to keep pace with the top six. 

At the moment they remain only five points off 5th place with three games in hand. Despite their shock defeat to Forest on Wednesday night, they will come into this one in great confidence, knowing they have one of the best home records in the last month. They have won three of their last five at home, with a 3-3 draw with Brentford in their last outing. 

Wolves themselves have been in fairly good form. Julen Lopetegui has turned their fortunes around this season and they now find themselves pretty much safe from relegation.

However, these performance points have largely been won at home and their away form has been rather poor. They haven’t won any of their last five games on the road, drawing two, and we can expect the same here. A Brighton win for this one.

Brentford vs Nottingham Forest – Brentford 

The second game in our FavFour sees Forest travel to Brentford. The visitors pulled off a shock upset on Wednesday night, besting European chasing Brighton 3-1 and they will come into this one with great confidence thinking another win could help their survival hopes. 

However, Brentford will be a tough challenge, especially at home. The Bees have lost only once in their last 10 home fixtures and they have turned the Gtech Community Stadium into a real fortress. 

Unfortunately for Forest their away form doesn’t seem to point towards a good result on their visit. They have the worst away record in the league over the last 10 games, losing eight and have only managed to score in 50% of those games. Despite their slight resurgence vs Brighton, we don’t think Forest have enough to beat Brentford on the road. A Brentford win.  

Sheffield United vs Preston – Sheffield United 

Sheffield United won promotion back to the Premier League on Wednesday night and will come into this one brimming with confidence. They have the second best home record in the league all season and have won eight of their last 10 fixtures at home. 

Although Preston are no pushovers themselves, they come into this one in poor away form. They have won only four of their last 10 on the road and failed to score in 50% of those games.

This will be concerning for Ryan Lowe’s side as with two games to go they remain only two points outside of the play-offs. They win need to win both games and hope results go in their favor if they have any chance of reaching the play-offs this season. 

Unfortunately for them, we think Sheffield United are just too good at home. This, together with Preston’s poor away form point towards only one outcome, a Sheffield United win for this one. 

Sunderland vs Watford – Sunderland 

The final game of our FavFour sees promotion-chasing Sunderland host Watford. The Black Cats are looking to win back promotion for the first time since 2017 and after promotion from League One last year, it would be quite the achievement. 

They currently sit 6th in the league on goal difference and have their fate within their own hands. With two games to go in the season, two wins would solidify their place in the playoffs and would set up a tie against Luton- as things stand. 

However, Watford stand in their way. The Hornets had high hopes coming into this season but after sacking yet another two managers this season, they find themselves in 13th place with nothing to play for. 

Although Sunderland have one of the worst home records in the league over the past six games, they will take confidence from the fact that they haven’t been beaten in their last four, and will take even more from the fact that Watford haven’t won on the road since the start of the year. For this reason, and with so much on the line for them, we think Sunderland will win this one.
