Celta Vigo vs Girona – Over 2.5 Goals + BTTS

The first match from our Tuesday treble sees Europe pushing Girona travel to Celta Vigo. 

Only Real Valladolid are behind Celta Vigo in the form table, with just three points in their last six games, which was against relegated Elche. Both sides have conceded 50 goals this season, and only four sides, three of which are in the relegation zone, have conceded more.

Girona, however, have scored the fourth most goals in La Liga with 55 - only behind Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Valentin Castellanos has scored 13 goals for Girona in their first La Liga campaign since 2019, where they were relegated, and he has helped his side to get within two points of a Europa Conference League place, which would be a remarkable return to the top flight after only being promoted last season.

A win for the hosts should confirm their La Liga status (if Getafe and Real Valladolid fail to win) whilst three points for the visitors will close the gap on Bilbao in 7th place. Four of the last five Girona games have seen over 2.5 goals, but they have picked up just 15 points away from home of their 48 for the season, highlighting a poor away record. That being said, they are unbeaten in four of the last five away games, but we do think that over 2.5 goals will be scored and both teams will get on the scoresheet in this one.

Real Sociedad vs Almeria – Real Sociedad Win + Over 2.5 Goals

Real Sociedad can move further away from Villarreal in the fight for 4th place and a Champions League place next season in their game against mid-table Almeria.

Unbeaten at home in their last seven league games, Sociedad are closing in on their first Champions League campaign since 2013/14 and just need five more points to secure it. Their win at recently crowned champions Barcelona was a big result for them, especially after a late winner from Villarreal away at Girona.

As for Almeria, they sit four points above the relegation zone with three games remaining. Their home form has certainly been a factor in that points tally, as they have just seven points on the road all season, and had to wait until the end of April to record their first away win of the season against Getafe.

We struggle to see Almeria stunning Sociedad at the Anoeta Stadium, but we think it’ll be an comfortable Sociedad win at home for them, and we think they’ll do it with over 2.5 goals in the game, like they did at the Camp Nou last weekend.

Valladolid vs Barcelona – Barcelona win 

Newly crowned champions Barcelona travel to struggling Real Valladolid as the hosts fight to avoid relegation to La Liga 2.

Valladolid realistically need to better Getafe’s points tally in the remaining three games, given the goal difference between the two sides. Only relegated Elche (65) have conceded more than the hosts (63) this season, and only Cadiz (28) and Elche (27) have scored fewer goals than Valladolid (30). It makes grim reading when you take their five-game losing streak into account, conceding 14 goals in those five games.

Barca have been relentless throughout the course of the season and are eyeing up the La Liga all-time clean sheet record, as well as breaking the fewest goals conceded in a 38-game season, which stands at 18, while Xavi’s side have conceded just 15 goals in their 35 league games. Their defeat against Real Sociedad was just their fourth defeat all season and their first defeat of the campaign at home. 

With the likes of Robert Lewandowski looking ever more likely to win the Golden Boot this season, he could make sure of it in a rampant display at Valladolid, just like the reverse fixture between the two sides, where he scored a brace in a 4-0 win for the Catalan giants. We think Barcelona will grab the win in this one, despite the title being wrapped up for them.
