The oddschecker team have picked out a 11/2 Thursday treble covering action from the Nations League and international friendlies.
13:00 Thursday
Argentina vs Australia – Argentina win + Over 2.5 Goals
World Cup champions Argentina meet Australia in a friendly re-run of their Round of 16 match in Argentina’s run through to the final.
Their 2-1 narrow win over the Socceroos, in which Australia had chances to take it to extra time, highlights that this friendly might not be as easy as many expect it to be. With the post season international fixtures of recent years, we always see some shock results that might not have happened in a major tournament.
With that in mind, we do think the Argentinians will win this, and it could even be by a similar scoreline. An Argentina win and over 2.5 goals in the game is what we think the first leg of our Thursday treble will be.
17:00 Wednesday
Jamaica vs Qatar – Jamaica win
A rather obscure fixture for the second leg sees the hosts of the 2022 World Cup Qatar travel to face Jamaica in a friendly match.
Jamaica didn’t qualify for the World Cup whereas Qatar lost all their games as host, the only hosts of the competition to do so. The last meeting prior to the World Cup ended in a 1-1 draw.
Jamaica will have Michail Antonio and Leon Bailey as players of note to help them overcome the Asian Cup-winning side, and we think they’ll do so. Jamaica to win this affair is our pick from the second leg of our Thursday Treble.
19:45 Thursday
Spain vs Italy – Both Teams To Score
The biggest match of the day comes in the second Nations League semi-final between Spain and Italy. Their most recent meeting came in October 2021 in the same stage, the Nations League semi-final. Spain won on that occasion but went on to lose out to eventual winners France.
The meeting prior to that was the Euro 2020 semi-final, which Italy prevailed on penalties and secured victory in the final against England. Other historic clashes between these two include the Euro 2016 round of 16 game which Italy won, and the Euro 2012 final, where Spain dominated to win 4-0.
The last two fixtures between these two sides have seen both teams scoring, and given the nature of the occasion, we think a similar story could occur again here. Both teams to score is our prediction for the final game of our Thursday treble.
