Football Accumulator Tips: Super Sunday 9/2 Championship Treble

Leicester vs Coventry – Leicester

The first game of Sunday's treble sees Championship newcomers Leicester welcome last year's play-off finalists, Coventry. 

This is the Foxes first time in the Championship for a decade and since then they have won one Premier League title and an FA Cup, so they will be eager to win promotion back to the big time as soon as possible. They come into this season as one of the outright favourites to win the league, and with the squad they have and the money they are spending, they really should be contenders. 

As for Coventry, they missed out to Luton at Wembley last year on penalties and will hope they can compete for the play-off spots once again this season. They’ve had a good pre-season so will come into this with confidence; however, with the squad Leicester have and their first game of the Championship season being at the King Power, we think Leicester will win this one to send a message to the rest of the league. 

Leeds vs Cardiff – Leeds 

Another side who have come down this season, Leeds host Cardiff at Elland Road and will be hoping to be one of the teams in the mix for promotion this year, However, they have lost several first team players so line up for the first game of the season as a completely changed side. 

Cardiff had a terrible season last year, only just surviving relegation. They have made a number of changes to their squad this season, including the addition of hometown boy Aaron Ramsey, so they will be hoping for a change of fortune this year. However, their first game of the season is away to the Yorkshire faithful at Elland Road, a difficult place for anyone to go to. Leeds United to win this one. 

Sunderland vs Ipswich – Sunderland 

The final game of our Super Sunday treble has last year’s play-off semi-finalists Sunderland host League One runners up, Ipswich Town. The black cats narrowly missed out on Back to back promotions last year after losing out to eventual winners Luton in the semi-finals, and they will hope they can go one further this year. 

The visitors will be hoping they can replicate Sunderland’s first season back in the league and can push for promotion to England’s top tier, and they have had a good transfer window to try and do so. However, for this one we see Sunderland’s experience and quality shining through, so we think a home win is the way to go here.
