The oddschecker team have picked out a 7/1 Monday treble covering action from Serie A and the Premier League.
17:30 Monday
Torino vs Cagliari – Torino win
Our Monday treble kicks off from the opening weekend of the Serie A campaign, with Torino hosting newly promoted Cagliari.
Torino finished 10th last season, but did have some scalps over UEFA Champions League semi-finalists AC Milan in the league and domestic cup in 2022/23. They won their opener last season against another newly promoted side in AC Monza, and will hope for a similar scoreline at home.
The visitors manager will be familiar with English football fans, as Claudio Ranieri looks to keep Cagliari up following their promotion last season. They bounced back at the first time of asking from Serie B and will hope they can remain in the Italian top flight.
We think, similar to Torino’s opener last season, that the hosts will get the win over Ranieri’s new side and kick off our treble with a Torino win.
19:45 Monday
Bologna vs AC Milan – AC Milan win
AC Milan, who reached the semi-finals of the Champions League with their city rivals Inter, kick off their Serie A campaign with a opening game away to Bologna.
They’ve added Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea and Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal to their ranks and, more importantly, retained the likes of Rafael Leao, who signed a new contract to stay in Milan. They did see Sandro Tonali leave the club but will want to hope they can still compete at the top of the table.
The hosts have not beaten AC Milan in their last six attempts, drawing twice and losing four. They finished 16 points behind their opponents today, but will want to progress on a decent 9th place finish last season. They will be without Marko Arnautovic, who scored 10 goals last season, but Joshua Zirkzee will be leading the line in their youthful attack.
With the quality and experience added to their ranks this summer, we think AC Milan will kick their campaign off with a win for our second leg of our treble.
20:00 Monday
Crystal Palace vs Arsenal – Arsenal win + Over 2.5 Goals
The final game of our Monday treble sees Crystal Palace welcome Arsenal to Selhurst Park.
Arsenal beat Palace home and away last season, but they did lose 3-0 to the South Londoners in April 2022. Both Arsenal and Crystal Palace got off to winning starts against Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United respectively, so this should be an interesting match up.
Palace will be buoyed by the contract signing of Michael Olise, but will be unavailable for a few weeks through injury. It was Odsonne Edouard who scored the only goal at Bramall Lane.
As for Arsenal, they saw new signing Jurrien Timber pick up an injury which means he will miss almost all of the season. They will need to regroup and a win away at Palace would certainly do that. The Gunners beat Manchester City in the Community Shield and won their opener, but they’ll need to be at their best to edge past Palace on the Monday Night Football.
The last five games have averaged just over 3 goals a game, and with Arsenal winning both games last season, we think an Arsenal win with over 2.5 goals in the game is a strong possibility.
