Rangers vs PSV – Both Teams to Score

It’s been over a year since Rangers famously beat PSV in Eindhoven to qualify for the Champions League group stages. Now these teams face again in the same stage, hoping to reach the group stages.

Whilst the hosts got their Scottish Premiership campaign off to the worst possible start away to Kilmarnock, where they lost 1-0 on the opening day, they picked themselves up to knockout Servette in the last qualifying round of the Champions League, setting up a tie with PSV. Both teams scored at Ibrox last August between these two sides.

PSV knocked out Sturm Graz 7-2 on aggregate to qualify for the latest qualifying round and have won all five of their first five fixtures for the new season, including beating Feyenoord in the Dutch Super Cup. They have two wins from two in the Eredivisie and will look to challenge near the top of the table like last season, where they finished second.

We don’t know what will happen this time between the two sides, but we do think that both teams will get on the scoresheet, like they did at their last meeting at Ibrox, so we’ll back that for the first leg of our treble.

Antwerp vs AEK Athens – Antwerp win

These two sides have only met in friendlies, but Antwerp now host Greek Champions AEK Athens for a place in the Champions League group stage.

The hosts have taken part in the Europa League group stages for two the last three seasons but have never reached the Champions League group stage before. A narrow defeat to established Anderlecht meant their 100% record is gone, but they still occupy 5th place at this early stage of the season, having played only four games.

The visitors have played in the group stage as recently as 2018 and have some experience at this stage. They will want to show their quality in their 100th season as a club, winning the title once again and hopefully qualify for the Champions League group stage.

We do think the Belgian hosts will take the first leg advantage, so we’re going to back an Antwerp win for the second leg of our Tuesday treble.

Rakow Czestochowa vs FC Copenhagen – Over 2.5 Goals

The final leg of our Tuesday treble sees Copenhagen take on Rakow Czestochowa.

Copenhagen have won all five of their opening five Danish Superleague games so far, scoring 13 goals in the process and conceding just four. There has been over 2.5 goals in four of those five games.

Rakow have also had over 2.5 goals in three of their four games, but haven’t been as dominant in the Polish Ekstraklasa. They have seven points from four games and sit in 5th place out of 18 teams.

These sides have never met before and whilst Copenhagen are expected to use their experience from reaching the group stage last season, being the away side is always a tough ask, and they’ll want to be cautious in their approach. We think over 2.5 goals could be on the cards as both sides tend to feature goals, but we are unsure how this first leg will go. Over 2.5 goals for this one.
