Bayern Munich vs Man United – Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score

The highlight game in Wednesday's Champions League fixture list sees out of sorts Manchester United travel to Germany as Bayern Munich welcome them to the Allianz Arena.

Despite a late penalty which cost them all three points against impressive Bayer Leverkusen, the Bavarian giants are heavy favourites to top Group A. Their addition of Harry Kane has bolstered their attacking force, something that was clearly lacking last season as they struggled throughout.

Kane has four league goals from their opening four games, and Leroy Sane has also looked unstoppable lately – his WhoScored average rating of 8.02 is the third highest in the Bundesliga of those to appear in the first four matches.

Compare that to a Manchester United who are languishing in 13th place after five games, with three defeats to their name. Their defensive woes have been exacerbated by injuries, conceding the joint third most in the league so far (10) – only Wolves and Burnley have conceded more.

Both Bayern and United have scored in their last four meetings in this competition, with Bayern progressing both times over two legs. The Red Devils will have to display spirit similar to that 1999 Champions League final against Bayern if they are to get anything out of this. Whether United bounce back from recent woes is questionable, but there should be goals in this one.

Real Sociedad vs Inter Milan – Inter Milan Win

Losing 2022/23 finalists Inter Milan start their new Champions League campaign with a trip to Real Sociedad.

On paper, they should win their group, but Sociedad are no easy game by any means. Their league form is lacking in the early stages, with six points from five games, but this is a Real Sociedad side who only lost three times at home last season.

On the flip side, Inter will be full of confidence after their demolition job of AC Milan over the weekend, beating their city rivals 5-1 at the San Siro. They will want to reach a similar stage that they did in last seasons competition, and they’ll want to top the group to give them the best chance of doing so.

One side bang in form against another side who haven’t really got going this season. Inter Milan should be winning this opening game.

Arsenal vs PSV – Arsenal & Under 3.5 Goals

The final leg of our Wednesday Champions League treble comes from the Emirates as Arsenal host PSV.

Arsenal’s European success over the last few years have been scarce, but they are now back in the Champions League for the first time since 2017, and they’ll want to make a statement.

As fourth favourites for the competition, you’d back the Gunners to progress well like they have done in the past, reaching the 2005/06 final.

As for PSV, they could make a statement of their own given their start to the league campaign. 13 goals scored and only once conceded from four games is a brilliant start in the Eredivisie. They eased past Rangers in the play-off round and have deservingly earned their place to fight amongst Europe’s elite.

These sides met last season in the Europa League group stage, with both games being won by the home side with under 2.5 goals scored. It could be a cagey affair given that both teams won’t want to lose their opening game. However, in front of a buoyant Emirates crowd, we back Arsenal to take the three points with under 3.5 goals in the game to finish off our Wednesday treble.
