The oddschecker team have picked out a 9/2 Tuesday treble covering action from the League Cup Third Round.
19:45 Tuesday
Ipswich vs Wolverhampton – Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score (in 90 mins)
We kick off this Tuesday treble with Wolves travelling to Portman Road to face in form Ipswich.
The hosts have been very impressive since being promoted to the Championship, winning seven of their first eight league matches. They needed penalties to progress against Reading, but now face the chance to knock out Premier League opposition in Wolves.
The visitors have lost two of their last three games, and their last win was in this competition against Blackpool, where they won 5-0 in the Second Round.
Portman Road has seen 25 goals in five games, with the last three seeing both sides score. Given the visitors’ dire start to the season, that goal rush could well continue against a side who have kept just a single clean sheet this season in the league. Over 2.5 goals with both sides scoring is our prediction for this one.
19:45 Tuesday
Bradford vs Middlesbrough – Both Teams to Score (in 90 mins)
This is the first competitive meeting between these two sides in over 20 years, as Bradford welcome Middlesbrough. These two played out an exciting pre season friendly, ending 3-3, and we could see a similar scoreline based off recent results for the two sides.
The Bantams won 4-1 away to Newport County last weekend and saw both teams scoring in both of their previous League Cup games this season, away to both Accrington and Wrexham, needing penalties to progress.
As for the struggling Boro, they picked up their first league win of the season against out of sorts Southampton. Their only other wins this season came in this competition against Huddersfield and Bolton, so they can maybe boost their confidence with a nice cup run.
Despite the gulf in league positions between the League Two and Championship club, we could still see both teams getting on the score sheet in this one.
20:00 Tuesday
Manchester United vs Crystal Palace - Manchester United win (in 90 mins)
Last year’s holders Manchester United finish off our Tuesday treble, as they take on Crystal Palace in their Third Round match as the first match this week against Roy Hodgson’s side, with a Premier League encounter between the two sides on the horizon.
Erik ten Hag’s side are a best price of 8/1 to retain the League Cup this season, with their city rivals the favourites. They ended a poor run of form with a much needed win against Burnley, and will look to keep that going with two games against Crystal Palace.
The visitors have been slightly inconsistent this season, winning twice, drawing twice and losing twice thus far in the Premier League. Their 4-2 win over Plymouth in the second round was a good performance though, as Jean-Philippe Mateta scored a hattrick.
However, we think a United team with lots of quality should be able to break down Crystal Palace in 90 minutes and win here.
