Football Accumulator Tips: Wednesday's Carabao Cup 15/1 Treble

Chelsea vs Brighton – Brighton

The first of our Wednesday treble comes from West London as Chelsea seek relief from their struggles in the Premier League against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup. 

The Blues recently suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa, leaving the Blues 14th in the table. Chelsea now sit closer to the relegation zone than they do the Top 4. Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping that this side can carry on from where they left off in the cup, which saw them beat local rivals AFC Wimbledon .

Brighton, on the other hand, have started the season impressively with five wins out of six Premier League matches, keeping them close to the teams at the top of the table. Despite a recent Europa League loss, they quickly bounced back with a win over Bournemouth. 

Considering Chelsea's poor recent form and Brighton's strong performance, it appears to be a challenging match for Pochettino's team. Brighton's goal-scoring prowess suggests they may secure another high-scoring victory at Stamford Bridge.

Brentford vs Arsenal – Arsenal

In another all-Premier League Carabao Cup third-round clash, Brentford are set to host Arsenal in a midweek London derby at the Gtech Community Stadium. 

Arsenal have advanced directly to this stage due their European commitments, whilst Brentford had to survive a tense penalty shootout against Newport County in the second round. 

Brentford's Premier League campaign has been very average, with just one victory and a series of draws, leaving them 13th in the table. 

The Bees, however, have been consistent in scoring at the Gtech Community Stadium, with a 14-game streak, but they narrowly avoided an upset against Newport last month, securing victory through a penalty shootout. 

Arsenal are coming off a thrilling 2-2 draw with Tottenham in the North London derby as they aim to continue Brentford's recent trend of cup disappointments against their London rivals. 

Arsenal may not prioritise the Carabao Cup this season, but this match will come as an opportunity to capitalise on Brentford's fitness issues and defensive vulnerabilities to progress to the fourth round, despite the likelihood of fielding a rotated squad. 

We are going for Arsenal to win this game as they set their sights on a domestic trophy.

Newcastle vs Man City - Man City 

Fresh from their commanding 8-0 win against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, Newcastle United are set to host Manchester City at St James' Park in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and the last leg of our Wednesday treble. 

Newcastle's recent victory against Sheffield United was historic, as eight different players scored in a Premier League game for the first time ever.

Goals from Sean Longstaff, Dan Burn and Sven Botman established their dominance in the first half, while Callum Wilson, Anthony Gordon, Miguel Almiron, Bruno Guimarães and Alexander Isak added to the tally in the second half.

Manchester City, on the other hand, secured a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in their last match, maintaining their winning start to the 2023-24 season. However, their win was marred by a red card for Rodri early in the second half, reducing them to 10 men, although they still managed to maintain a clean sheet.

While Newcastle will be riding high on their recent demolition of Sheffield United and will likely give Manchester City a tough challenge, we expect City to come out on top.
