Fulham vs Sheffield United – Fulham

The first leg from our FavFour comes at Craven Cottage, as Sheffield United are the visitors to play Fulham. 

The Cottagers currently sit in 13th after seven games, and are three points off where they were around this stage last season. Without talisman Aleksandar Mitrovic, it was going to be a struggle to perform as well as they did last season, but they’re hanging in there. The goals are lacking though, with the joint lowest in the league with five, level with Bournemouth and their opponents on Saturday, Sheffield United.

It's fascinating that with the same amount of goals, Sheffield United sit rock bottom, picking up just a single point from their first seven games, at home to Everton. Having conceded 19 goals, the most in the premier league, with eight of those coming in the home capitulation to Newcastle, highlights just how poor they have been in adapting to the top flight. 

They are leaking goals and not holding on to points. One could argue that without the last two games against Newcastle and West Ham taken into account, the Blades have been rather unlucky not to pick up more than the single point. They were minutes away from a win at Tottenham and had equalisers against Man City and Nottingham Forest. Despite that, confidence is at rock bottom and they’ll need to pick it up if they want to stand a chance of staying up.

Both sides have failed to score in their last two, but Fulham did play London derbies against Crystal Palace and Chelsea, so we would expect them to come back and show the quality they need to pick up three points at home. Fulham should be the victors in this first leg of the FavFour.

Leicester vs Stoke – Leicester

Leicester are destined to return to the top flight after just 10 games played with nine wins and are currently on a five game winning streak. They’ll want to extend that against a Stoke side with just one win in their last six games.

The Foxes cruised to a 3-0 win against 3rd place Preston in midweek and move seven points clear of them to boost their automatic promotion chances. Their side is very impressive for a Championship outfit and possesses the quality capable of winning the league at a canter. 

As for Stoke, they’re at the wrong end of the table in 18th, after 10 points from their first 10 games. They looked to have started the season strongly but have just a single win in their last seven games. They went down 1-0 to Southampton and face another top side in Leicester on Saturday.

Leicester’s only defeat of the campaign came against Hull at the King Power Stadium, but we find it highly unlikely that they’d drop points against Stoke. With that in mind, we’re happy to back Leicester as the second leg of our Saturday FavFour.

Leeds vs Bristol City – Leeds

Bristol City are the latest visitors to Elland Road to face Leeds United on Saturday.

After an indifferent start to the season, which saw them winless in their first three, they picked up a massive three points away at Ipswich. They’ve won three of the six Championship league games since then, losing away at Southampton.

They are unbeaten at home this season in the six games played at Elland Road in all competitions, and look to keep that going against Bristol City.

The Robins ended a two game losing streak with a win away at Rotherham, but this game is a much tougher test for Nigel Pearson’s side. They’ve been fantastic travelers this season, picking up 10 points on the road from a possible 15.

This one will be a cracker, but we expect with the help of the Elland Road crowd that Leeds get the win in this one.

Cardiff vs Watford - Cardiff

The last leg of our FavFour sees Cardiff welcome Watford.

The Bluebirds had a four game winning streak come to an end away at improving Middlesbrough and will be hoping to get back to winning ways. They sit 8th at the moment, with a whole host of teams sitting on 16 points after 10 games played.

Watford, on the other hand, are a place above the relegation zone and have been dealt three successive defeats. They are yet to win on the road, with just a single point away from home.

The defeat at Sunderland was another blow and the Hornets can’t wait for the international break to come. Watford are no strangers to changing managers, but the extension of Valerien Ismael’s contract might be a small boost to the team that he is being backed.

Despite that, we do think is that Cardiff are favourites for this one and it would be a surprise to not see them win, but as we all know, anything can happen in football. We’ll still back Erol Bulut’s side to get all three points in this one.
