Liverpool vs Brentford

In typical fashion, Erling Haaland responded to his blank (and half-time withdrawal) in FPL GW11 by netting twice for Manchester City in the Champions League against Young Boys?

Is Haaland the best captain for GW12? Or does City’s trip to Chelsea on Super Sunday have you looking elsewhere for the armband this week?

FPL Captain Picks – Who is the best captain for GW12?

Erling Haaland is likely to be the most popular captain in FPL GW12 despite blanking in both of City’s matches against Chelsea last season.

However, some of the other top captain picks for this weekend, including Saka (0G & 0A in five matches against Burnley) have equally uninspiring records against their GW12 opponents.

Player (Match) Goal Assist Goal Contribution
Salah (BRE Home) 50% 34.8% 84.8%
Saka (BUR Home) 41.7% 33.3% 75%
Haaland (CHE Away) 52.4% 16.7% 69.1%
Watkins (FUL Home) 43.5% 25% 68.5%

FPL Heisenberg Verdict: Use the above odds to guide your decision, but ultimately go with your gut. I currently have it on Salah.

FPL Predicted Points for Midfielders in GW12

If you need to replace the injured James Maddison, there are plenty of midfield options with eye-catching fixtures in GW12.

FPL predicted points for the following midfielders in GW12 includes the likelihood of goals, assists and clean sheets, minus the probability of a yellow card.

It does not factor in bonus points, while it assumes – if fit to play - each of the players will pass 60 minutes to collect the two appearance points.

We have included Salah and Saka for those either looking at a two-transfer move in GW12 or with money in the bank to upgrade on Maddison, who has pulled out of the England squad.

Player (Match) Predicted Points
Salah (BRE Home) 5.85
Saka (BUR Home) 5.43
Mitoma (SHU Home) 5.37
Martinelli (BUR Home) 5.24
Diaby (FUL Home) 4.66
Bowen (NFO Home) 4.45
Eze (EVE Home) 4.02
Gordon (BOU Away) 3.96
Mbeumo (LIV Away) 3.78

FPL Heisenberg Verdict: It has to be Bukayo Saka for me and this is where I'm going with my team (as long as he's fit of course). An alternative if Saka is out would be Bowen, great fixtures and he's in great goalscoring form this season.

FPL Tips: Who are the best defenders to target in GW12?

There are a lot of FPL managers in the market for a new defender this weekend after the long-term injury for highly owned Dan Burn, combined with suspensions for Udogie and Romero of Spurs.

As above, we have included the top-priced Alexander-Arnold and Trippier for those who have the money to make the jump. Probabilities are taken from best prices on oddschecker.

Player (Match) Clean Sheet Goal Assist % Return
Alexander-Arnold (BRE Home) 39.2% 9.1% 30.8% 79.1%
Gabriel (BUR Home) 57.1% 10% 8.3% 75.4%
Saliba (BUR Home) 57.1% 5.6% 8.3% 71%
Trippier (BOU Away) 36.4% 4.8% 28.6% 69.8%
Livramento (BOU Away) 36.4% 5.9% 20% 62.3%
Schar (BOU Away) 36.4% 9.1% 7.7% 53.2%
Lascelles (BOU Away) 36.4% 7.7% 6.7% 50.8%
Mitchell (EVE Home) 36.4% 3.2% 10% 49.6%
Guehi (EVE Home) 36.4% 5.3% 5.3% 47%

FPL Heisenberg Verdict: Gabriel is the stand out option for me, great fixtures and at £4.8m is much more affordable than the likes of Trent. Arsenal's underlying defensive stats have been really good this season.
