Leeds vs Middlesbrough – Leeds

The First leg of our Saturday FavFour sees Leeds United aim to prolong their unbeaten streak in the Championship to six matches as they host Middlesbrough. 

Currently occupying third position in the table, the Yorkshire giants are seeking to maintain their momentum. Meanwhile, Middlesbrough, situated three points below the playoff spots, have had an inconsistent run of form.

Leeds are yet to reach the heights again of their standout victory against Leicester City, they managed to secure seven points from recent fixtures against Plymouth, Rotherham and Swansea City.

Notably, Leeds remains the only team in the Championship yet to lose on their home turf, conceding just seven goals in the process.

The international break appeared untimely for Boro, who, after defeating Leicester, suffered an away defeat at Bristol City. Nevertheless, they made a stylish comeback in midweek with a 4-0 triumph over Preston North End. Michael Carrick's side dominated the match, scoring three goals in the opening 37 minutes to take complete control of the contest.

We are backing Leeds to get the job done on this occasion and take the spoils.

Ipswich vs Coventry – Ipswich

Portman Road plays host to Highflyers Ipswich and Coventry City on Saturday. In the Midweek fixtures , Ipswich closed the gap to just one point behind leaders Leicester by securing a 3-1 victory over Millwall at Home, while Leicester faced a draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

As Leicester face a potentially challenging trip to West Brom on Saturday, Ipswich have the opportunity to claim the top spot in the Championship as we head into the festive period. 

Confident in their pursuit, the Tractor Boys will be aiming to secure victory over Coventry at Portman Road, where they have recorded eight wins and suffered only one loss in the league this season. 

Coventry, currently in 15th position, seem to be finding their rhythm after a setback in losing last season's play-off final to Luton. Heading to East Anglia with back-to-back victories, they pose a challenge for Ipswich in their quest for the top spot.

We predict that Ipswich will be too much for Coventry to handle this weekend.

Arsenal vs Wolves – Arsenal

Following an impressive triumph over Lens that secured their spot in the Champions League's last 16, Arsenal shifts their focus back to the Premier League as they host Wolves at the Emirates on Saturday. 

Mikel Arteta's team dominated with a 6-0 victory over Lens, claiming the top spot in their European group. In contrast, Gary O'Neil's squad have had a few days to ponder over a painful 3-2 loss to Fulham, marked by VAR controversy.

Kai Havertz's first goal from open play in 31 games propelled Arsenal to the summit of the English top flight, securing a tense 1-0 win against local rivals Brentford last time out in the league.

However, competition is tight at the top, with Manchester City, Liverpool, and Aston Villa closely trailing Arteta's side, who boast the best defensive record in the league, conceding only 10 goals.

While Arsenal fans may not expect a repeat of their six-goal spectacle, Wolves are likely to adopt a more conservative approach compared to the disjointed Lens team. Despite occasional defensive vulnerabilities, the visitors can compensate with potency in the final third. 

Nonetheless, it seems challenging for their scoring streak to persist in North London, we expect Arteta's team to breach the Wolves' defence, maintaining their position at the top of the table.

Burnley vs Sheffield United – Burnley

Coming off a disheartening home losses in their recent Premier League outings, Burnley and Sheffield United will face off in a crucial clash at Turf Moor in a basement battle on Saturday. This game marks the last leg of our FavFour.

Vincent Kompany's team suffered a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United, relinquishing a one-goal lead, while Bramall Lane witnessed Sheffield United succumbed to a 3-1 loss against Bournemouth.

Before hosting West Ham, Burnley had already etched an unwanted piece of English football history by becoming the first team to lose their initial six home games of a Premier League season. The Turf Moor curse persists for Kompany's men, and their dismal record continues to haunt them.

With 10 defeats in 13 Premier League matches this season, Sheffield United sit just one point ahead of Burnley in 18th place. However, even a victory in this weekend's encounter won't lift the Blades to safety, given Luton's four-point cushion. Furthermore, their defence - having conceded 34 goals - maintains the dubious distinction of being the worst in the top flight.

Burnley, having already secured the title of the first Premier League side to start a season with six consecutive home losses and now face the prospect of becoming the first team in the entire English Football League to endure an eight-game streak of such defeats at the beginning of a campaign.

While a cagey affair is anticipated, we expect  Burnley to finally end their streak of home defeats and pick up three points, although it is likely to be a closely contested match at Turf Moo.
