Fulham vs Nottingham Forest – Fulham Win

Fulham take on Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage, with both teams looking behind them at the teams nearer the bottom than the top.

The visitors have looked good in the two games since they came back from the latest international break, having scored three goals in both their win over Wolves and defeat against Liverpool last weekend. Considering they had scored just 10 goals from their first 12 games, that is already a big uplift in the attacking department. All four of their wins had come against teams in the bottom half of the table, with three home wins from six fixtures at Craven Cottage.

As for Steve Cooper’s side, he will be feeling the pressure after back to back home defeats, meaning they have lost four of their last five. Whilst still six points away from Everton in the relegation zone, it highlights a downturn in form, and just the four points away from The City Ground is level with the likes of Luton and Burnley.

Fulham will the fact that they won both fixtures against Forest last season as a positive, as well as their performance at Anfield, and thus they are expected to pick up another win against under pressure Cooper.

Aston Villa vs Manchester City – Aston Villa Double Chance

Aston Villa welcome a Manchester City side who haven’t won in their last three games.

Unai Emery’s side’s home form has been much discussed and with just one defeat in all competitions this season, their winning run doesn’t look set to end anytime soon. Amazingly enough, a win here would take Villa above their opponents, which would both highlight the impressive work of Emery’s outfit, but also the problems Guardiola faces at Manchester City.

They’ve drawn three successive games in a row, failing to see out all three of those games, conceding equalisers in the 94th, 80th and 90th minutes against Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham respectively. Whilst a trip to Stamford Bridge and a tough game against Liverpool is understandable to see points dropped, a depleted Tottenham side were expected to be beat by Manchester City, but they failed to do so.

There has been talk about a lack of hunger by pundits surrounding City and a trip to Aston Villa, who haven’t suffered defeat in the Premier League since a 4-2 defeat to Arsenal in February, is no easy task.

Therefore, we think the value is in Villa double chance. The two sides drew at Villa Park when they played each other last season and despite Villa historically struggling against Man City, this is an all different Clarets side. With Man City missing Rodri and Jack Grealish for this encounter, we would not be surprised to see City struggle to win.

Manchester United vs Chelsea – Both Teams to Score

Two heavyweights of the English game who have struggled in recent months face off at Old Trafford, as Chelsea travel up north to play Manchester United.

Despite being 7th and only six points of their city rivals, United’s campaign has been uninspiring to say the least. They are staring into an earlier than expected exit from the Champions League, in a group where they really should’ve qualified by now. They have scored the same amount of goals as bottom half Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Bournemouth, and they take on a buoyant Chelsea after a 3-2 win against Brighton with 10 men.

Chelsea are by no means perfect, but they certainly bring excitement. Their last four league games have seen a whopping 23 goals and four red cards, as well as 7 points from a possible 12. Their latest win took them into the top half of the table, and another win in Manchester would take them two points off the Red Devils. However, if they are to win, they’ll have to overturn an over 10 year win drought at Old Trafford, not having won there in the Premier League since 2013.

The last four games involving Chelsea have seen both teams scored, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see that continue. The last four times these sides have met have also seen both teams scored, so it seems that will be the case on Wednesday, so we’ll back both teams scoring to finish off this Wednesday treble.
