Premier League predictions from Mark O'Haire for this weekend's matches, starting with a shots bet in the Friday Night Football.
20:00 Friday - Forest vs Spurs
This week’s football tips from Mark O’Haire includes a selection in Spurs’ Friday night trip to Nottingham Forest, whose manager Steve Cooper heads Manchester United's Erik Ten Hag in the next manager to leave market.
Harry Toffolo Over 0.5 Shots
Advised Bet: 1pt @ 13/10 Betway
Nottingham Forest halted their four-game losing streak last weekend, picking up a well-earned 1-1 draw away at Wolves. Steve Cooper made seven changes from the side slaughtered by Fulham and in doing so, moved away from a back-four; one of the players to benefit from the system change was Harry Toffolo, operating at left wing-back.
The 28-year-old scored with one of his two attempts at Molineux and appears overpriced at 13/10 (2.30) with Betway just to have an effort at goal against Tottenham on Friday night. Toffolo has paid-out in this market in four of his eight Premier League starts this season and could well be aided by Spurs’ proactive approach under Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham are allowing 13.30 shots per-game – rising to 13.80 when playing away – and with attack-minded full-back Pedro Porro joined by Brennan Johnson down Spurs’ right-side, Toffolo may be presented with the space required to exploit the visitors in transition.
15:00 Saturday - City vs Palace
Chris Richards 3+ Tackles
1pt @ 19/10 Ladbrokes
A long-term injury for key Crystal Palace destroyer Cheick Doucoure has forced Roy Hodgson into a re-think in defensive midfield with traditional centre-half Chris Richards stepping into the role for the Eagles’ past three Premier League fixtures. The American is again expected to feature at the base of midfield for Saturday’s trip to Man City.
Richards collected a card against Liverpool last time out but was largely impressive playing out of position in front of the back four, making four tackles and six clearances against the Reds at Selhurst Park. The tackles element is what piques the interest here with the 23-year-old now racking up totals of 4-3-5 since his switch into midfield.
With that in-mind, the 19/10 (2.90) from Ladbrokes for Richards to make 3+ Tackles at the Etihad appeals. Palace are expected to sit deep to try and frustrate the Citizens and Richards is bound to be key in breaking up play as City force the issue.
17:30 Saturday - Burnley vs Everton
Abdoulaye Doucoure Over 0.5 Shots on-Target
Advised Bet: 1pt @ 23/20 Betway
A return to our old favourite this weekend as Everton look to continue their fine recent form with a trip to basement battlers Burnley on Saturday evening.
Despite providing profit in the Over 0.5 Shots on-Target market in 11 (69%) of 16 Premier League outings already this season, Abdoulaye Doucoure again stands-out at a very generous 23/20 (2.15) with Betway.
The Mali man is operating in an advanced role behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin in Sean Dyche’s system and the Everton ace providing plenty of threat from open play and dead-ball situations.
The 30-year-old is averaging 1.80 shots per-90 and is posting 0.97 shots on-target per-90 this season, making odds-against offerings far too attractive to turn down.
Burnley have displayed signs of life lately, although the Clarets are still conceding a hefty 14.70 shots per-game with 12 of their 16 opponents forcing at least four on-target attempts.
