Man City vs Huddersfield – Man City win to nil

FA Cup Holders Manchester City welcome Huddersfield Town to the Etihad Stadium, as they look to retain their crown of the most prestigious of domestic cup competitions.

City went much of last year’s FA Cup success without conceding, before a dubious first half penalty in the final gave Bruno Fernandes the opportunity to bring Manchester United level in the FA Cup Final back in June 2023. Pep Guardiola’s side beat Chelsea, Arsenal, Bristol City, Burnley and Sheffield United on their way to the final, picking up five clean sheets on the way.

Huddersfield meanwhile have struggled in the Championship this season and are at real risk of relegation to League One. They are three points off 22nd placed Sheffield Wednesday and have won just one of their last six league games.

The Terriers have scored the fifth least goals in the Championship whilst Manchester City have conceded the third least goals in the Premier League this season. It would not be a shock to see another clean sheet for Manchester City.

Luton vs Bolton – Luton win + Both Teams to Score

Luton host Bolton at Kenilworth Road in their third-round tie.

Luton narrowly lost to Chelsea after two late goals almost earned the Hatters a point, having won away at Sheffield United and at home to Newcastle before that. Their Premier League safety attempt goes on, but they’ll go into this competition looking to build momentum, as they welcome a different challenger from League One.

Bolton have been one of the top scorers in the division, and have won four on the bounce, narrowly trailing Portsmouth. They will want to use that confidence and go to Kenilworth and put up a fight against a side 27 places above them in the English football pyramid.

Luton have quality players in their side and have scored in all but one of their league games this campaign. They have also conceded a fair few goals and have seen both teams scored in six of their last seven games. Bolton have kept three clean sheets in a row in League One now but will find it tough for that to continue against Premier League opposition.

We can see Luton running away with it, but Bolton will want to give their travelling fans something to cheer in the shape of a goal, so we think the hosts progress with both teams scoring.

Arsenal vs Liverpool – Arsenal win

The big tie from the third round and final of this treble sees Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side face Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the Emirates.

For Arsenal, recent defeats have moved them five points off the top of the Premier League, currently occupied by their visitors on Sunday. In fact, the last league point they picked up was between these two at Anfield on the 23rd of December. They might see this competition as a realistic chance of silverware, so they’ll want to win it.

As for Liverpool, who have lost Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo to their respective nations for AFCON and the Asia Cup, they might be less motivated than the Gunners to win this one. They play Fulham in a two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final and might welcome the chance to gain silverware in that competition. Given the busy schedule, neither side will want a replay.

The last three meetings between these two sides have seen two draws and an Arsenal win back in October 2022, so we think the Gunners will be the side prevailing here to progress to the 4th Round of the FA Cup to finish off our Super Sunday Treble.
