Everton vs Luton – Everton win

The FA Cup tie between Everton and Luton is where our first FavFour selection comes from.

In this meeting earlier on in the season, it was Luton who recorded their first Premier League win of the season, winning 2-1 at Goodison Park in September.

Everton have won just once in the last seven games, but that win was their replay against Crystal Palace, which got them into the hat to play the Hatters. Luton won away at Bolton in their replay to make this round.

Everton have been solid at home since that defeat back in September though, losing just three times at Goodison in all competitions since. We think they have the quality to progress without the need of a replay, so our selection for this first leg is an Everton win.

Sunderland vs Stoke – Sunderland win

We dive into the Championship for this next leg, as Stoke travel to Sunderland.

Sunderland’s Michael Beale is under real pressure, following three successive defeats in a row. Their latest to Hull was particularly damaging, so they’ll want to bounce back against Stoke.

The Potters lost last time out to Birmingham, so both teams will have something to prove.

In their last meeting, Stoke ran out 2-1 winners, and they battered Sunderland 5-1 on their last trip to the Stadium of Light. However, in front of their home crowd, Sunderland need to be winning. We think they will as our second leg of the FavFour.

Blackpool vs Charlton – Blackpool win

Further down the English pyramid into League One, as Blackpool entertain managerless Charlton.

The Tangerines have been impressive as of late, winning three league games on the bounce. Their win away at Bristol Rovers was a particularly good day out, and the momentum will be high with the play-offs in sight.

As for Charlton, no wins in six spelt the end for Michael Appleton, but the Addicks will have to bounce back and arrest the slide down the table. Curtis Fleming and Jason Pearce will take interim charge as the search for a new Charlton manager begins.

With the turmoil at Charlton and good form of Blackpool, we think the hosts will get the three points and move further closer to the play-off spots.

Carlisle vs Bolton – Bolton win

Another team bang in form in League One against a struggling side as Bolton travel to Carlisle.

The Cumbrians won promotion via the League Two play-offs, but are set to head straight back down to the fourth tier at this rate, as they remain 10 points off safety.

Bolton on the other hand are pushing for top spot, just two points off Portsmouth with two games in hand. They have won five of their last six and are impressive form.
