Luton vs Brighton – Both Teams to Score

Brighton travel to Kenilworth Road to play Luton in the first selection of our Tuesday Treble. When the teams met earlier in the season, it was the Seagulls who came out victorious against an inexperienced Luton side who were still basking in the joy of their shock promotion and incredible rise from non-league.

The 4-1 scoreline was a tough blow for their first Premier League game, but Luton would feel a bit more confident in getting a result this time around.

The Hatters last defeat came against Chelsea at the end of 2023. Their late point against Burnley followed by progression to the FA Cup 4th Round, and then the 5th round after beating Everton last weekend, has got Hatters fans off to a perfect start to the new year.

They should be wary of Brighton though after they were able to dispatch Sheffield United 5-2 in their FA Cup fourth round tie. The Seagulls' last defeat came against Arsenal in mid-December, and they have - for the most part - been lethal infront of goal. 

Interestingly, if Brighton were to blank in front of goal, it would be their third successive blank in front of goal after scoring more than four goals in their previous game in all competitions. They beat Tottenham 4-2 on the 28th of December, then followed it up with a 0-0 against West Ham. They then beat Stoke 4-2 and drew 0-0 against Wolves.

We hope that doesn’t happen though, as we think both teams will score in a goal rush at Kenilworth Road.

Fulham vs Everton – Fulham Win

Two teams who are out of form take each other on, as Fulham welcome Everton to Craven Cottage.
This stage last week, Fulham were still in three competitions, but after FA Cup and Carabao Cup exits to Newcastle and Liverpool respectively, their main focus is on the Premier League.

Fulham’s last league game at home came in their 2-1 win over Arsenal, and they’ll want to channel that energy to get the three points. They are seven points worse off than last season and have lost four of their last five league games, which will need to improve if they are to steer clear of any potential relegation scrap.

Everton, for the time being at least, are a part of that relegation scrap. The 10 point deduction could yet be overturned, which would boost them up the table. For now, they will have to accept they are just a point off Luton in 18th and three points off Nottingham Forest above them. Their FA Cup exit to Luton in the 96th minute will sting, especially considering the fact they’ve scored just two goals in their last five games.

In a tight and potentially scrappy affair, we think the Cottagers will get the result they need in front of their home fans.

Crystal Palace vs Sheffield United – Under 2.5 Goals

Our final game comes at Selhurst Park between Crystal Palace and Sheffield United.

Many might see this game as a make or break for Roy Hodgson after recent disappointments. Their last game saw them lost 5-0 to Arsenal, and they went out of the FA Cup in another bad display at Everton.

If Palace fail to win this one, the pressure will skyrocket and it might be too much for the Eagles to take, especially with another M23 Derby on the horizon at the start of February.

Sheffield United have problems of their own, but they might be resigned to the fact they will go down this season unless they can pull off an unlikely great escape. They are seven points off safety and have won just twice this season, scoring a measly 17 goals whilst conceding 51. That’s three goals conceded for every one scored at a perfect ratio of 1:3.

With both sides averaging under a goal a game, it would be a shock to see goals in this one. The last six meetings between these two sides have had under 2.5 goals, and both sides will want to stay compact and not give too much away. It could be a really low quality game and we’ll happily back under 2.5 goals in this one.
