16:30 Sunday

Arsenal have the chance to go back within touching distance of Liverpool in the race for the Premier League with a win here. Arteta’s men led the way at Christmas but a blip allowed Klopp’s men to seize control.

Arsenal vs Liverpool Stats

  • Arsenal have lost just three league matches at the Emirates since the start of last season. That’s a run of 30 matches that are averaging 3.83 goals.
  • The Gunners have only won once in their last 12 head-to-heads with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
  • Liverpool have scored an average of 2.32 goals in the league this season; only Manchester City are averaging more.

Arsenal vs Liverpool Prediction

\Arsenal were the second favourites for the title, behind Manchester City, before the season began. They showcased their credentials in the last campaign and many expect them to make the jump and win silverware. The Gunners progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League and looked to be on the right track in the league until a few losses at the very end of 2023.

Arteta’s men are still in the mix but an incredible level of consistency is required to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool when they are at their best. Sunday’s clash is massive for Arsenal. It’s a chance to make the most of home advantage and potentially swing the pendulum in their favour. The Gunners have won the title since 2004 and it is a heavy burden to carry for a club like Arsenal.

Liverpool played some exhilarating stuff as they comfortably dispatched of Arsenal’s London rivals, Chelsea, midweek. Klopp’s side won 4-1 and looked lethal as ever. They are now unbeaten in their last 12 matches in all competitions. It will take an exceptional performance to stop them here.

Klopp took the footballing world by surprise when he announced he would leave Liverpool at the end of the season. He will be hoping to end his tenure in a high and there is every chance of doing just that. Liverpool are fighting for success in the League Cup, FA Cup and Europa League. A win here would give them a commanding lead over Arsenal.

The Gunners’ matches this season have seen an average of 25.36 shots. That’s right on the mark set by Unibet here but I’m happy to back over 25.5 shots in the match at 4/5 given the more recent stats.

Arsenal were excellent in their win over Crystal Palace in their last home match. Arteta’s men created chance after chance but still managed to concede 12 attempts against Hodgson’s side. There were 32 shots in that match. Their home game before the Palace win was the defeat against Liverpool in the cup which saw 30 shots. A repeat of that here would see this bet land with ease.

Arteta’s side have played five home matches since the start of December. Those games have seen an average of 31.2 shots and our bet for this one won in four of those. The exception was against Wolves, where there were 25 shots.

Liverpool’s Premier League away matches have also seen above the required mark. Klopp’s side are one of the most dangerous attacking outfits in the league. Their matches on the road have seen an average of 27.09 shots.

Over 25.5 shots in the match has also won in the last two league meetings between these sides.
