Burnley vs Brentford – Brentford to Win

Vincent Kompany’s Burnley welcome Thomas Frank’s Brentford to Turf Moor. With Burnley running out of time to turn their season around, they’ll be hoping they can get something from their fellow relegation candidates. The Bees will be hoping to take advantage of this opportunity to pull further away from the bottom.

Burnley are winless in 11 games in all competitions and an escape from the drop zone is getting further from their grasp every week. 

Despite having home advantage, I don’t expect this will give them much of an edge seeing as they have just five points at home all season, picking up most of their scarce points on the road.

Brentford will be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel as they emerge from a run of eight games that have featured Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City twice.

They returned with no points in any of these fixtures but were unlucky not to pinch at least a point against Spurs and defended valiantly against Arsenal who have been scoring prolifically recently. 

They conceded in the 85th minute against Arsenal but it will have given them a lot of momentum to build on.

Burnley meanwhile threw away a 2-0 lead against West Ham last week and were defeated by Arteta’s Arsenal 5-0 not long ago. There isn’t many positive to pick from Kompany’s recent run of games.

Brentford have the second worst XG point difference in the league and sit in 10th in the expected points table which suggests they have been somewhat unfortunate this season. I think now they have come out of a tough run of fixtures they will be able to show their class against a much easier opponent in Burnley.

Luton vs Nottingham Forest – Luton to Win

This will be a pivotal week for the bottom of the table as another two sides fighting to stay in the topflight will battle it out at Kenilworth Road this weekend.

Luton ended January with three consecutive wins, however they are now winless in eight straight fixtures.
They had a chance to climb out of the relegation zone on Wednesday against Bournemouth when they went 3-0 up however, they crumbled in the second half, conceding four goals to lose the game 4-3. 

However, they have been given a second chance at climbing out of trouble in this fixture, and I don’t think they will make the same mistake.

Despite their results they have played with merit and have had no trouble in finding the net (they have scored in their last 16). 

There defence have been the main issue when it comes to seeing out results, however, they might get some respite against a Forest side that have failed to score in their last three games in all competitions.

I will take them to beat Forest.

West Brom vs Bristol City – West Brom to Win

West Brom continue their push to remain in the Championship play-off places when they meet Bristol City at the Hawthorns. Bristol will be hoping to prevent their season petering out to a disappointing ending.

West Brom made it five games unbeaten when they showed their grit against Huddersfield last week, scoring four goals in the second half to win 4-1.

They will welcome a return to the Hawthorns as they have one of the best records in the league at home with 12 wins in their 18 games.

Bristol are struggling to string together results recently, scraping a last minute win against Swansea in their last game and losing the four before that.

They have scored just four times in their last five games and they come up against a free scoring West Brom Side (averaging two goals a game in their last five).

West Brom have more to play for and are in better form, they return to the Hawthorns where they have been formidable and should win.

Ipswich vs Sheffield Wednesday – Ipswich to Win

Sheffield Wednesday travel to Portman Road to face Ipswich this weekend. This game is important for both sides as Ipswich have promotion hopes while Sheffield are fighting to stay in the division.

Ipswich will need to rebound from a recent loss against Cardiff City last week as they try to achieve back-to-back promotions. They currently sit in third place, just one point behind second placed Leeds United.

They have lost the fewest games in the division with just five defeats and have lost just three games at home this year. They have 49 out of a possible 66 points at home.

Having gone behind Leeds in the promotion race after a silly defeat they won’t want to make the same mistake with just nine games to play.

Sheffield have some impressive form recently, winning four of their last five however, they didn’t face anyone in the top half of the table nor did they win these games convincingly. They returned to losing ways against second in the league Leeds last week.

Ipswich should have too much quality for Sheffield and won’t want to make the same mistake they made last fixture.
