Leeds vs Blackburn – Leeds to Win

Despite their best-efforts, promotion chasing Leeds couldn’t breakdown Sunderland midweek and were forced to settle for a draw. While this might have been disappointing for The Whites, it is nothing to be disheartened about as this Sunderland side has prided itself on its defence this season. The Black Cats have the fifth best away defensive record in the Championship.

However, they now turn their focus to Blackburn who have the second worst defence in the league, second only to bottom of the league Rotherham. They have conceded 10 in their last three games.

This Leeds side has the highest xG in the league and with home advantage they should make this extremely difficult for this weak defence.

The Rovers are fighting to stay in the Championship and they are failing to pull together performances at both ends of the pitch, they have failed to score in three of their last five matches.

This is a very important game for third placed Leeds, and with Leicester losing on Friday night they will be even more determined to pick up three points here. They just find no problem breezing past a Blackburn side who are struggling to find any end product at the moment and are very vulnerable at the back.

Brentford vs Sheffield - Brentford to Win

Brentford and Sheffield United clash in a pivotal game in the Premier League relegation battle. Three points for Sheffield would give them a slim chance of pushing for survival as they sit nine points from safety. A win for Brentford would likely push them further from Luton’s grasp as the hatters are unlikely to pick up any points at the Etihad. It is a must win game for both sides.

Brentford are on a nine-game winless streak, but they have been somewhat unlucky not to find a victory in these fixtures, especially against Man United where they dominated the match, ending the game with two more xG than their opponents.

They have shown promise in these games, putting on admirable displays against the likes of Man City, Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

The Bees have turned somewhat of a corner recently and are starting to find points from games, picking up three draws in their last three, against 4th place Aston Villa, 10th place Brighton and 6th place Man United.

Frank’s side even managed to score three goals at Villa, they are only the fourth side to do this all season.

If you remove their home losses to title contenders Liverpool and Man City, Brentford have lost just three times at home in their last 11 games and have only lost to two sides outside the top four at home this season.

I think they have been unlucky not to pick up more results than they have, and they have more quality than they results suggest.

They face a Sheffield side that I can’t say the same for. The Blades have done well recently to grind out some draws and gave Liverpool a scare, but they lack quality to compete in the Premier League and their defence is far to weak to win games (2.7 goals conceded on average a game this season).

To make matters worse, they struggle to score on the road, they have just 0.9 goals on average per away game.

They face a Brentford side that are better than their results and should finally have the chance to show their quality against a lesser opponent.

Burnley vs Brighton – Brighton to Win

Brighton on a three-game winless streak visit Turf Moor to play Vincent Kompany’s Burnley. Brighton have slipped to 10th place after an inconsistent season while Burnley are fighting for survival in 19th place, six points from safety.

Though Brighton have struggled away from home this season, their last two away wins have come against sides in the bottom four and their away record is made to look a lot worse by losses against the top six.

Burnley have also lost all seven of their home games against the top half of the table sides so Brighton’s away record shouldn't drag them down.

I think this is the perfect opportunity for Brighton to get back on track. They have a lot of attacking ability and have the 9th best xG in the league. They are up against the third top side for xG against so they should get chances.

Burnley don’t have much going for them other than that this is a vital game for their Premier League survival. Brighton have the quality to win this and though it won’t be easy I think they will pinch this.

15:00 Saturday

Bristol City vs Huddersfield – Bristol City to Win

Bristol don’t have anything to play for, but they have been in very good form recently. They have drawn one and won three of their last four games which includes a 1-0 win over title contenders Leicester and a 5-0 thrashing of Blackburn last time out.

The Robins have kept a clean sheet in their last four games and have conceded just twice in their last six games which doesn’t fare well for Huddersfield who are averaging just 0.83 goals in their last six games.

Huddersfield are fighting to stay in the Championship and sit just above the relegation zone in 21st place. They have won just once in their last eight games and lost four.

These two sides meet each other is differing forms and momentum certainly is in the favour of The Robins who are in the joint best form in the Championship in the last six games. They play the team in the fourth worst form in the league in this same time period and should win.
