Below you can find Macca's reasoning behind each part of the bet.

Bruno Fernandes Over 0.5 Assists

The 29-year-old Man United captain was once again praised by Portugal fans after his superb performance against Ireland in which he created the most chances in the match and bagged himself another assist, setting up Joao Felix in the 18th minute.

In his 892 minutes during the qualifiers, Bruno managed eight assists. When we look at his domestic performance over the past two seasons at United, he’s averaged 0.28 expected assists per 90 – more than any other player in the Portugal squad and some feat considering he's playing in the Premier League.

Portugal To Win

Under the management of Roberto Martinez, Portugal have transformed into a dynamic and exciting contender. The squad is brimming with talent. Players like Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo and Diogo Jota are in their prime.

Fernandes, especially, has been on fire with six goals and eight assists during the qualifiers. Up and coming talent such as Leao and PSG’s Vitinha, and let’s not forget Cristiano Ronaldo.

At 39, he’s still a force to be reckoned with, finishing as the second-highest scorer in the qualifiers and looked particularly sharp against Ireland, getting himself a brace.

Over 1.5 Goals

Martinez’s attacking approach and tactical flexibility have breathed new life into the team, making Portugal a formidable threat.

Their mix of seasoned veterans and prime-age stars, combined with their recent form, make them a difficult opponent against Czech Republic who are coming into this game with manager Ivan Hasek who was only appointed in January 2024 and has only had friendlies since in which a clean sheet has not yet been achieved.

Martinez has quickly silenced his critics by leading Portugal to an impeccable qualifying campaign, winning every match and scoring an impressive 36 goals while conceding only two. More than any other nation. It’s hard not to see goals in this game.
