Netherlands To Win

The Netherlands stumbled their way through the group stages and finished third. However, Ronaldo Koeman’s side looked far better in the last round as they recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory over Romania.

The Oranje had to weather an early storm but dominated from there on. They kept 65% possession and finished the game with an xG of 2.93.

Ronald Koeman has lost just three times in 18 matches since returning to coach the Dutch national team.

They are averaging 2.28 goals per game over that period. They weren't amongst the favourites at the start of the tournament but the draw has given them a great opportunity to reach the final. The Netherlands will want to ensure they get the job done against Turkey.

The Turks were eliminated from the last Euros at the group stage so they will be delighted to reach the last eight. They rode their luck in their round of 16 encounter with Austria. Vincenzo Montella’s side had just six shots to Austria’s 21. They finished the game with an xG 2.22 lower than Ralf Rangnick’s side. Turkey cannot afford to give the Dutch the same opportunities.

Over 0.5 Tackles For Stefan De Vrij

Stefan De Vrij has partnered Virgil Van Dijk at centre-back for the Netherlands. Players in this position aren’t usually contenders to make tackles but this bet has made at least one tackle in all four of his matches at Euro 2024 so far. This angle was part of our winning bet builder for Netherlands vs Romania.

Koeman likes his central defenders to be aggressive and step up to win the ball. Despite the Dutch dominating the ball, De Vrij still managed to make three tackles in the win over Romania. The opening game versus Poland saw the Inter Milan defender make four tackles. Stefan made one tackle in clashes with France and Austria.

Stefan De Vrij averaged 1.3 tackles per 90 minutes played for Inter in 31 appearances across Serie A and the Champions League last season.

Over 1.5 Fouls For Virgil Van Dijk

Virgil Van Dijk is one of three players who have made 10 fouls or more at the tournament. No other player has committed more offences and he should be busy here.

The Dutch captain has made two fouls or more in three of his team’s four matches. Virgil made a whopping four fouls in the win over Romania. Their final group game against Austria saw him make three fouls.

Van Dijk averaged just 0.7 fouls per 90 minutes for Liverpool in the Premier League last season but the Dutch setup seems to leave him more exposed.

Starting centre-backs against Turkey have combined for a total of 11 fouls at Euro 2024 so far.
