Golden Boot Euro 2024 Odds & Prediction: Who will be the top scorer?

There are six players who have scored three goals at Euro 2024 but four of those have already exited the tournament - Cody Gakpo, Georges Mikautadze, Jamal Musiala and Ivan Schranz.

That leaves Dani Olmo and Harry Kane as the likeliest Golden Boot winners, while Jude Bellingham and Fabian Ruiz could still contend with two goals apiece.

Olmo is leading the race in a market which will be settled on dead heat rules with most bookmakers. Scott Thornton looks at three of the favourites before the final and picks his winner.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane hasn’t enjoyed the best of tournaments. He continues to drop deep and appears to lack the energy to get back into the box, leading some to question whether or not he should start the final. Ollie Watkins came off the bench to score the decisive goal against the Netherlands but it is Kane who leads the way for England.

Despite his struggles, Kane has netted three times at this tournament. He converted from the spot against the Dutch. The captain also scored England’s winner at the start of extra-time against Slovakia in the round of 16.  

However, the source of frustration has been Kane’s absence at the point of attack. He has long enjoyed dropping deep to facilitate play but the lack of touches in front of goal at Euro 2024 suggests he is struggling to get into the danger area. Kane had just three touches in the box before being substituted in the semi-final.

Kane averaged 5.03 touches per 90 minutes in the opposition box for Bayern Munich last season. He was truly lethal in the Bundesliga, scoring 36 goals and assisting a further eight in 32 appearances. He also scored eight goals in the Champions League.

The former Tottenham striker is undoubtedly capable of coming up trumps for England here and one goal might be enough for him to secure the golden boot. The assists tiebreaker is what separates him from Dani Olmo going into the final.

Dani Olmo

The RB Leipzig man wasn’t a starter at the beginning of the tournament but injuries and making the most of his opportunities means that he will be a crucial player in Berlin.

All three of the midfielder’s goals have come in the knockout stages. He grabbed Spain’s last goal in the 4-1 win over Georgia but the other two goals were far more crucial. 

Olmo gave Spain the lead in the quarter-final against Germany. He also assisted their winner in the 119th minute. In the last round, the midfielder gave Spain the lead just 16 minutes after they fell behind.

If neither Kane or Olmo score in this match, the Spaniard would win the Golden Boot so his odds are the most appealing. He is best priced at 11/4 with William Hill.

However, dead heat rules apply with this book, meaning the odds will be halved if another player finishes on the same amount of goals. With an abundance of players on three goals heading into this game, Olmo would need a goal to make this bet profitable. 

Jude Bellingham

After a triumphant first season in Madrid, the hype surrounding Jude Bellingham ahead of the European Championships was extraordinary. He was crowned a champion of Europe at club level this year and still has the chance of accomplishing that at international level.

Bellingham has blown hot and cold at this tournament but he has certainly made a contribution. England wouldn’t be in the final if Bellingham hadn’t have produced a piece of magic against Slovakia. 

The Three Lions were staring down the barrel of elimination but an overhead kick from the Real Madrid man was enough to force extra time. Bellingham's other goal came in the 1-0 win over Serbia in England’s first group game. 

At Real Madrid last season, Bellingham scored 19 goals in 28 La Liga matches. He also scored four goals in the Champions League.
